Mix 96.7 | Does product placement work?

Mix 96.7 | Does product placement work? | Branded Entertainment | Scoop.it
Henrik Lysdahl's insight:

I just watched the last season of suits. I spotted a very prominent (thank you BEMS) placement of Samsung Galaxy S4. It's almost embarrasing. I can recomment the show by the way, it's quite exciting. Good luck on your assignments everyone!

Henrik Lysdahl's insight:

Read this in the news today, insurance company Europ Assistance Italia performed a pretty cool stunt with a fake submarine rising out of the pavement. It undoubtly has a quite good entertainment value, but is this branded entertainment or PR?

I saw this in the news as well! "This is no problem". Very entertaining stunt, I'm guessing its all about insurance, not that the non-translatable can tell me though. Good point though, I can't figure out the actual brand :(

The Quick 10: 10 Fake Brands Used by the Entertainment Industry

The Quick 10: 10 Fake Brands Used by the Entertainment Industry | Branded Entertainment | Scoop.it
Technically, it's more like, "10 Fake Brands and Numbers and License Plates Used by the Entertainment Industry" but that's pretty wordy for a title. Basically, it's brands that you've seen pop up in show after show, movie after movie.
Henrik Lysdahl's insight:

I think this is quite interesting, Quentin Tarantino has his fictional products in some of his films, "Red Apple Cigarettes".

Some of these could be used for reverse product placements (although some would not work). If a fake brand becomes so well known for being used a lot in movies/tv, would it become a successful reverse product placement (think Duff beer, Wonka chocolate, etc.)?

Review And Box Office Outlook: 'Gravity' Is The Movie Experience Of The Year | Branded Entertainment | Scoop.it
Henrik Lysdahl's insight:

Can't really talk too much about branding in this movie, since I haven't seen it. However, I suppose most of us love entertainment, and this movie looks really excellent! Personally, I will use this movie as a means of transportation. It will premiere in NZ October 3rd

Might have to go an see this one! I think the problem now with seeing movies is that any product placement will become completely blatant and annoying - I think we will all subconsciously look for them!
