5 B2B Brands That “Get” Storytelling

5 B2B Brands That “Get” Storytelling | Brand Storytelling | Scoop.it
Corporate storytelling and brand journalism are in demand. Here are 5 examples of B2B brands that do it well.

Corporate storytelling is nothing new. Presentations and books on telling a great story – opposed to shilling product – are abundant. But examples of brands doing it well are harder to find.

That seems to be changing, though. As content marketing and brand journalism takes hold, better corporate storytelling examples have emerged, especially in B2B marketing where sales cycles are long and the need to engage an audience is pivotal.

Seeing is learning. With that in mind, we wanted to point out some examples of B2B brands that truly get corporate storytelling.

These include examples of how companies are telling stories...

1. either others's stories (i.e. what is happening in the world or what others are doing),

2. what your own company's current projects and future goals are

3. or, putting your product into application by demonstrating, through real life examples, how their product can be used.

Most companies focus on one of these three. However, it might be conducive to cover all of these angles to capture more perspectives.

"Telling stories is a hot topic in B2B marketing, as evidenced by recent articles coveringtransmedia storytelling and brand storytelling, among many others. But with so many different techniques and approaches being discussed, we wanted to take a closer look at what storytelling actually is, and how B2B marketers can use it to best effect.

This is very interesting. Thank you. I really like the insert of a battle seen because there is time for one and the simplification of female characters.

Small Business Lessons from B2B Brands with Amazing Content Strategy | Business 2 Community

Small Business Lessons from B2B Brands with Amazing Content Strategy | Business 2 Community | Brand Storytelling | Scoop.it

Building a small business content marketing strategy is hard work, but it’s probably about to get much harder. Many subject matter experts believe that our current state of content overload is just the calm before the storm. As Doug Kessler of Velocity Partners spectates, “the rush to content marketing in every industry will make it harder and harder for your brand to rise above the noise.”

If your entire strategy to date has relied on doing what you competitors already did, a few weeks later, it’s definitely time to pause and reset. To inspire you to a more original small business strategy that’s built to weather an era where literally every company blogs, Tweets, and pens eBooks, we’ve taken inspiration from some of the hardest-working companies on the block: B2B companiess with brilliant content.

30hands app for storytelling and presentation

Different from other presentation apps, 30hands Mobile focuses on the power of storytelling. Like pages in a book, photos or images are dragged around the desktop into the order of the story. Next, the teacher or student records audio over each image. Finally, the story or presentation can be published to the device’s photo area or uploaded to a 30hands collaborative learning site.

Brand Storytelling: 10 Steps to Start Your Content Marketing Hero’s Journey

Brand Storytelling: 10 Steps to Start Your Content Marketing Hero’s Journey | Brand Storytelling | Scoop.it

As a content marketer, you have probably heard the call for us all to become brand storytellers. While this sounds great in theory, the tricky part for many companies is determining how to develop these stories in the first place.

There are no hard-and-fast rules for developing your brand’s stories, but you can go back and look at classic storytelling and structure as a helpful map to guide you. For example, the classic “hero’s journey” from Joseph Campbell’s, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, outlines what he calls the “monomyth” — which is a pattern that many believe can be found in almost every narrative around the world.

Jeff Fromm: Why The Old Definition of Brand Value Has Died - PSFK

Jeff Fromm: Why The Old Definition of Brand Value Has Died - PSFK | Brand Storytelling | Scoop.it

To win over millennials, brands must incorporate participative benefits into their models....

In the new Millennial-inspired Participation Economy, the old definition of brand value — the one that worked for decades — is dead. As marketers, we knew that the sum of our core functional and emotional benefits divided by price would give us a proxy for brand value. Stronger brands had more price elasticity. However, the old definition no longer holds if you want to engage Millennials or older generations that are adopting a “Millennial Mindset.”

THE NEW DEFINITION OF BRAND VALUE

Millennials don’t just want to buy your brand, they want to be a part of it. They’re looking for ways to participate. And they want to understand why you do what you do not just what you want to sell. As a result, the brand value equation has morphed to include participative benefits. This is key for tapping into Millennial passion — and therefore, Millennials’ dollars. In The Participation Economy, (emotional benefits + function benefits + participative benefits)/price = brand value. We’ll explore this more in a bit. First, let’s review who makes up this generation — and how they influence your other consumers, too....
