Anyone can now join multimedia storytelling platform Storify.
The site, which allows users to drag and drop elements such as tweets, audioboo recordings, photographs from Flickr and YouTube videos to tell a dynamic story, which can then be embedded on a news website or blog, was previously in private beta and an invitation was required. Storify is now in public beta.

Storify removes a lot of the hurdles that are there for blogging and makes beautiful rich media stories that you can embed anywhere but who will want to make their own news stories? On the other side of the argument is this tool good enough for professional bloggers and journalists and will they want to embed 3rd party software in to their own publications? It’s certainly very useful and easy to use but the biggest question is who is the target market?

Curation tool Storify launches public beta - stories viewed 13 million times - The Storify Blog |

Storify is now in public beta -- meaning anyone can create an account to tell stories with social media.
Storify stories have been viewed more than 13 million times on our site and across the Web since our private beta launched at the end of September 2010. We had 4.2 million views just in March, our biggest month yet.
Our private beta users have created more than 21,000 stories. Storify stories have been embedded on more than 5,000 sites.

It's the most aggressive integration of social media into a live news program to date. Al Jazeera says it wants to capture a new generation of cable "cord cutters," push the limits of so-called "citizen journalism," and inch into American media territory.
A social storytelling service powers the editorially curated content, which is complimented by community commenting before, during, and after the anchored news show. It's scheduled to start airing May 2nd.

A Web start-up named Storify, which opens to the public Monday, aims to help journalists and others collect and filter all this information.
The tools will remain free, but Storify will consider selling ads or charging brands to use the service, said Xavier Damman, a Storify founder. Levi’s and Samsung have already used it for marketing campaigns.
