As cognitive scientists John Kounios and Mark Beeman put it, in order to get epiphanies:

What we can do is be receptive and expose ourself to a lot of insight triggers.

Also, positive moods tend to promote eureka moments. On the contrary, anxiety will promote analytical thoughts.

Lastly, they advise us to get more sleep.

Ellen Langer’s experiments have shown that mental attitudes might reverse some ravages of old age. Now she wants to test that same radical principle on cancer.

Interesting finding! Feeling old is all in your mind.

Researchers like Dr Ellen Langer of Harvard University believe that the signs of aging can be reduced or even reversed if people have the right attitude.

One team put a group of elderly men in a simulated 1950s environment, complete with midcentury movies and news broadcasts.

After five days, the men looked younger and had better eyesight, better posture, and increased flexibility and dexterity.

The men "put their mind in an earlier time," explains Dr Langer.
