Kevin's Place: Red Bordeaux—Expensive and Confusing?Nope… Hints to “Bank” On

Kevin's Place: Red Bordeaux—Expensive and Confusing?Nope… Hints to “Bank” On | Wines of Bordeaux and south-west France | Scoop.it

Customers are afraid of the Bordeaux section because first, they figure it will be expensive, and second, they don’t understand what they are reading on the label. Have no fear. Simply put, a red Bordeaux wine is a wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France. It is the largest French wine producing area, composed of over 120,000 hectares of vineyards and producing over 700 million bottles of wine each year.

Wine lover and collector Peter Dean is surprised by Bergerac's Treasures

Wine lover and collector Peter Dean is surprised by Bergerac's Treasures | Wines of Bordeaux and south-west France | Scoop.it

My ‘road to Damascus’ moment with wine came 10 years ago when I was served an array of perfectly aged bottles, which were all drinking superbly, with food that matched. Although I had always had an interest, from this point on I started taking wine seriously as a subject: drinking and buying a lot of it with the requisite research, effort and hopefully some skill. I started a small wine club soon after and have written about fine wine for three years – continuing to love the sense of discovery that accompanies finding a new producer, an over-looked vintage or a region that you knew little about. Oh and I bloody love drinking the stuff.
DiscoverVin's insight:

Excellent article about the great value wines of Bergerac. Luc de Conti at Domaine Ancienne Cure and Christian Roche at Tour des Gendres are 2 of the standout winemakers- both imported by DiscoverVin.
