Wear Love - CruPress Green

Wear Love - CruPress Green | Bona Fide Christianity | Scoop.it

This article nicely articulated something I've been unable to put my finger on. What do you think when someone wears those corny Christian shirts with bold messages?

This article explains what love looks like. I pray that God would make me more loving to others.

Sometimes we all just need a little help summarizing some major concepts. This article does a great job summarizing the Gospel. It's a good resource to point people to who ask "What is Christianity really all about?" As always, if you have any questions about anything, shoot me a comment.

Misty Edwards - The Harlot

If you have half an hour on you to watch this, it is quite moving as we remember who we are before a Holy God. His Grace is much more beautiful when we see what we would deserve apart from what Christ has done.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have listened to it 3 times already.

This video is a reminder to me that in the eyes of God no one is better or more righteous than the harlot depicted in this story, and no one is less needful of the salvation that is given freely to her.

This video is a tremendous blessing! Thanks, and God bless you!

Jesus very clearly stated that he would divide brother from brother and friend from friend. Christianity is a divisive subject, but believer know they have a new family in Christ.

A word from the Word: Hebrews 11 (ESV)

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.

It would be difficult to have a topic about living out your faith without Hebrews 11. It is commonly referred to as the "Hall of Faith." This is one of the many passages that clearly links the Old and New Testament and shows how Faith has played a role all throughout the Bible.

If these aren't examples of living Faith, then I don't know what could be. Challenge yourself and check the link.

I once heard a similar story about how God, being the gentleman that he is, kindly decided to step back after we asked him to get out of our schools and our workplaces and our lives, and now we're angry that He did so. It's an interesting concept to ponder - can we guilt God? Why do we try?
Nate Anderson's comment, April 2, 2012 10:26 AM
Interesting comment, Eric. I think lot of people do try to guilt God. People fail to see God as good, perfect, and holy. Everything He does in our lives or allows to happen to us is ultimately to bring people back around to Him. Sometimes, people push God away and they want to see what the world has to offer first. God will let them wander for a while until they come to see that they really need Him because we're created to know God personally.

Who is to really know the mind of God though? Isaiah 55:8-9 says:
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Sometimes He gives people over to their own desires in hope that they will return to Him just like the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32. If anyone reading this has time to look through that passage, I'd highly recommend it. Even if you've read it before, there is always more to get out of it.

What Is Your Purpose In Life?

What Is Your Purpose In Life? | Bona Fide Christianity | Scoop.it

This can be a tough question to answer. Have you ever given much thought to your overall purpose in life or if you have one? At the end of the day, aren't things meaningless? One day we'll all day and be forgotten.

I argue otherwise. This article is a great place to begin exploring this. When you have a purpose in living, life is much more rich, deep, and meaningful.

This article points to where I find meaning in my life. You can't live out your faith if your faith isn't worth living out.

Be Ready for Every Good Work - Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

I have always loved how practical the book of James is. It is really hard to sum up everything breifly, but take a look at chapter 3, verses 1-11 to learn more about being ready for every good work. There is a lot to get out of this (as any passage for that matter)

Matt Chandler - Sermon Jam - Prayer

Here's another sermon jam. This time, the topic of prayer is brought to the forefront. How can anyone claim to have a relationship with God if there is no communication. You cannot live out your faith without prayer. Prayer is no magical phrase. Prayer is communicating with the all powerful God of the universe! He wants us to talk with him. This video explains more, so check it out. It's not long.

Ever say, 'I hate my life'? How You Can Change Your Life Forever

Really, how do you change your life? Have you ever found yourself saying, 'I hate my life'? Here's how you can become the person you'd like to be...

This article is fascinating. It gave me goose bumps just reading it. Josh McDowel set out to prove Christianity as incorrect. Read the article to see his conclusions.

One funny quote from the article is this: "They appeared to possess an inner, constant source of joy. They were disgustingly happy. They had something I didn't have." Check it out. It's a quick read.

A word from the Word: John 3:16-17

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

Today, I would usually post something else. I am compelled due to Good Friday to post a passage regarding why Jesus Christ came into the world... not to condemn, but to love and offer life by laying down his own.

Unashamedly, I will declare that Jesus died for you out of Love. You can:

1) Ignore it, therefore rejecting Him -OR-

2) Accept it, believing that his payment is sufficient to pay for our sins that we are otherwise stuck in.

Jesus is THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life. No one comes to God the Father except through him. This is not politically correct and I don't care. The verses here in John 3 should be compelling enough for you to live your life for Christ.

"Laos: Rewarded Faith" (Persecution.com)

Sometimes Christians find it difficult to follow God in this country because of what people might think of them. These boys in this school make a bold move to follow Christ even if the stakes are high. If they are willing to risk this, then we shouldn't be concerned with what other think. It's utlimately important what God thinks and no one else. Check the link for the story.

A word from the Word: 1 John 1:5-10 - ESV

"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth."

If you have the time, reading the book of 1 John is highly recommended. It is only 5 chapters long. This particular passage calls out people who profess Christianity, yet walk in sin. If you say you have fellowship with God while you are sinning, you are a lier. It is Biblical Truth.

"Padina: Daily Carrying the Cross in Iran" (Persecution.com)

This is a woman who is living out her faith in the midst of intense persecution. Please read her story posted at this link to see her passion. I hope it excites a passion in you as well!

The following is a quote from an interview:

"Persecution has caused us to be stronger in faith, has caused us to be more in prayer and fasting, and we take what we are doing for God more seriously, that this is serious. Because every place we go and every ministry, every trip, we feel this might be our last. So whenever we go out, especially on trips, we feel this might be our last trip.
I have chosen this way knowingly and I know that this was my choice so I don’t have a problem with it. But I am more worried about my husband because of the way I feel about him. During the day when I think about my husband being arrested, when I consider all these things I come to the point and I think I know I love Jesus more than this and I may even give up my husband for the love I have for God. So it challenges me, my love for Jesus — do you really love me at that level? So that causes me to have a more loving relationship with Jesus himself."
