Making Changes to Your Website? Draw Inspiration From These 13 Web Designs #websitedesign

Making Changes to Your Website? Draw Inspiration From These 13 Web Designs #websitedesign | Blogging, wordpress | Scoop.it
When you're planning to make changes to your website, it helps to poke around other companies' websites to see what they're up to. How have they structured their navigations? Do they still use hero images? How many CTAs do they have? What do their mobile websites look like?

While you're certainly not trying to copy features exactly, seeing what others are doing can help you figure out what's new in the fast-paced world of design and inspire new ideas for your own site.
Trouble is, it can be hard to randomly stumble across lots of great examples. So we decided to curate some in this very post to help inspire your next redesign.

Before we dive into the websites themselves, it's important to note that not every design is meant to look like Apple’s website and aesthetic. Of course everyone loves a “beautiful website” and smooth customer experience, but the end goal of any website is great usability -- and that can have multiple definitions depending on your site purpose and target audience.

How To Combine Great Content With Strong SEO To Maximize Search Visibility | Blogging, wordpress | Scoop.it

What’s more important than writing great content? Making sure people can find it!

While search engine algorithms are getting better at discovering and ranking new content on the web, there are still a lot of things you can do to influence that process. Publishing content to a blog is only the first step in the promotion process.

Doing only that doesn’t guarantee anyone will see it. You have to go the extra mile to get your content in front of eyeballs!

Use these valuable tips to get your website noticed.

Graham Drage's curator insight, March 30, 2015 2:05 AM

Some good tips. The one I find overlooked most is the Image file name. Many people use an image straight of their camera with a file name like DSC001.jpg It is a job of seconds to give it a relevant file name eg Dog-Walking-In-St-James-Park.jpg and then you have an image which can be understood by the search engine and also one you will be able to identify easily when you look in 6 months time.

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post

10 Tips for an Awesome and SEO-Friendly Blog Post | Blogging, wordpress | Scoop.it

Writing a blog post -like all other writing- is a skill. In order to keep your reader interested, you should think about structuring your text and writing in an appealing style. You should help your readers to grasp the main idea of your post by providing headings, subheadings and clear paragraphs. If people understand and like your text, they are much more likely to share, like, tweet and link to your post. And that will increase your rankings! So, in order to improve your ranking in Google, you should definitely try to maximize your writing skills!

For some, writing for SEO purposes and writing to attract and keep attracting your audience could appear as two contradictory goals. However, I totally disagree. Indeed, if you not only want a good but also an SEO-friendly blog post, your text should be written in such a way that the words you want to be found for have a very prominent place. And, using your keywords too often severely damages the readability of your text. So, you definitely should not do that!

(From the article): Adding actual and functional information to your website will give Google the idea that your website is alive. If it’s not an active website, Google will crawl it less often and it might become less appealing to Google to include the page in the search results.

Your Website is About to Disappear from Google

Your Website is About to Disappear from Google | Blogging, wordpress | Scoop.it

Google has left no doubt about how important it is to have a mobile-friendly site:

“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”  (Google Webmaster Blog)

What this means is that Google’s algorithm can not only tell if your website is easily seen on mobile devices, but may ignore those that are not.  In fact, they are now displaying a “Mobile Friendly” icon when they display your website or blog in their search results.

One thing not forget is that it's not enough to simply make the website mobile-friendly (works on a mobile device), you need to make experience of the website mobile-friendly (it's a pleasure to use on a mobile device).

Social media has been called many things over its short but storied history, but one thing it has almost never been called is “slow.” There’s a common, implicit understanding that the results social media marketing delivers are primarily immediate.

The social success stories we constantly hear about are the ones that happen overnight. This conception of social media is prevalent for two reasons.
