Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR)

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) | Blended Teaching | Scoop.it

COE portal...

Developed through a process of scientific research and wide consultation, this document provides a practical tool for setting clear standards to be attained at successive stages of learning and for evaluating outcomes in an internationally comparable manner. It is the result of extensive research and ongoing work on communicative objectives, as exemplified by the popular 'Threshold level' concept.
The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) provides a basis for the mutual recognition of language qualifications, thus facilitating educational and occupational mobility. It is increasingly used in the reform of national curricula and by international consortia for the comparison of language certificates.

Free Technology for Teachers: Google+ Added to Google Apps for Education | Blended Teaching | Scoop.it

When Google+ first came out I was excited about the prospect of using the Google+ Hangouts as a way to host online tutoring sessions. Unfortunately, at that time Google+ could only be used with personal Google (@gmail.com) accounts. Today, that changed as Google announced that Google+ can now be activated for Google Apps for Education users.

Using iPads for Formative Assessment - Teaching Now - Education Week Teacher | Blended Teaching | Scoop.it

Are some principals really handing out iPads to teachers without any plan for how they are to be used in the classroom? Appears so from an inquiring e-mail Bill Ferriter recently recieved from a language arts teacher friend.

Always ready to lend a hand, though, Ferriter comes to the rescue with some nice advice on using the iPads (and presumably other tablets) in combination with a Google Docs forms tool for observation-based formative assessment

"One of the most overlooked and understated aspects of the common formative assessment process and the role these assessments play in a professional learning community has to be the degree to which the results of high-quality assessments inform teachers about the need to change instructional practice, particularly if students are not learning."

10 Ways To Use Technology To Teach Writing

10 Ways To Use Technology To Teach Writing | Blended Teaching | Scoop.it

Both high-tech innovations for learning and the inability of many American schoolchildren to write well have been major talking points in educational circles for quite some time, but oddly enough, one may offer a solution to helping remedy the other.

There are a variety of tech tools and methods out there for teaching writing that can make the process easier and more fun for both teachers and students. While not every high-tech way of teaching writing will work for every class or every student, there’s enough variety that there’s bound to be something for everyone.

Here, we offer just a few tech-focused ways to help students learn grammar, essay-writing, and, most importantly, why good writing is so important to their futures.

All You Need to Know About Infographics: Tips, Tutorials, Guides | Blended Teaching | Scoop.it

Let’s be honest, we don’t like to read big pieces of text. Text-heavy graphs are rather difficult for understanding, especially when dealing with numbers and statistics. That is why illustrations and flowcharts are often used for such kind of information.

An infographic, or a visual representation of study or data, like anything else, can be done right or wrong. How to create a successful infographic? A good idea and a good design.
