We kindly invite school and teacher librarians, researchers in the field of school librarianship, educators, teachers, principals, school administrators, educational technologists, and all interested in the field of education, libraries, (media and information) literacy to submit a proposal for a paper, poster or workshop linked to our general theme and / or one of the subthemes.

 

An abstract of maximum 500 words is required for all categories. You can dowload the full Call for Papers below.

 

Conference themes

You are invited, but not restricted, to submit a proposal in one of the following conference themes:

 

The school library as a space and place: meeting, sharing, discussing. In this article I examine the perceptions of social media and Web 2.0 that influence the pedagogical practices of teacher-librarians. I argue that for many teacher-librarians, use of social media is seen as risky. This perception is exacerbated by the blocking of a range of social media, Web 2.0 and cloud computing tools by Australian state education departments. I show that teacher-librarians in some private schools are not subject to the same blocking practices and thus have more expansive views on the pedagogical affordances of social media and Web 2.0.
