Bleach Online Overview

Bleach Online is a browser-based, strategy MMORPG from GoGames set in the popular Bleach manga/anime universe. The game is considered non-canon as any of the events in the game occur independent of the original manga series. In the game, you play as one of six selectable characters from three available classes. The game opens with your character waking up after a 1,000 year slumber on a strange Human World with no memories of who/where you are. It’s up to you to interact with many of the Bleach Universe’s most popular characters to regain your memories and save your friends who get mistaken as rebels!

As is standard fare for many MMORPGs of the browser genre, Bleach Online requires very little in terms of actual player involvement. It follows in the same vein as games such as Knight’s Fable, Angel Alliance and League of Angels, where the narrative plays out as less of a game and more as an interactive story book. Players will auto-path to their quest destinations and will watch battles play out automatically. Fans of this style of gameplay will feel right at home in Bleach Online’s colorful, gorgeously-animated world — permitting that they can put up with poor localization. Grammatically poor sentences are by no means a deal-breaker, but they do nothing to help the game’s already shallow immersion.

Giving credit where it’s due, Bleach Online allows the player to choose the formation of their team for battle, thereby altering how some battles might play out. This feature, coupled with equipment upgrades and modifications, gives the player the opportunity to maximize their Battle Power (the accumulation of factors such as health, defense, health, etc and the sole determining factor for battles). This is important not only for the game’s main quest, but also for MMO features like PvP and guilds.

Being a free to play MMORPG, Bleach Online does incorporate microtransactions, which help players progress faster or unlocks features, like the ability to skip battle sequences entirely. While limiting certain features via paywall is obnoxious, it doesn’t necessarily hinder the overall experience. In fact, purchasable add-ons never feel forced or obligatory for progression.

While Bleach Online doesn’t bring anything new to the genre, fans of the manga/anime series may find enjoyment in interacting with the series’ characters. Even those new to the universe will find a decent story (if not somewhat incoherent) and beautiful graphics/animations to keep them entertained for a decent chunk of time. That said, hardcore gamers looking for anything more than a superficial, extreme-casual experience should probably look elsewhere.

Bleach Online has been Enters Open Beta Phase

Bleach Online has been Enters Open Beta Phase | BleachOnline | Scoop.it

Bleach Online has entered the Open Beta since July 15, 2014

Crowleyzhe's insight:

If you are fans of the anime titled Bleach, then you should try this game. Bleach Online, an online game that was published by Gogames. Game with turn-based genre that has been completed to hold closed beta test phase since 07 July 2014, has entered the Open Beta since July 15, 2014. This information reported directly by the Gogames through their official website.

Bleach Online is a free anime browser MMO devBleach Online has been Enters Open Beta Phaseeloped and published by GoGames. The game is based on the popular Bleach franchise and it is set in the same universe. Bleach Online protagonists wake up after a long recovery sleep that lasted 1000 years. With the help of Captain Yamamoto and many other friendly characters, players must recover their lost memories and fight to protect those close to them. Bleach Online starts with a small tutorial that guides players through game’s basic mechanics. Challenging content and complex features are unlocked as characters progress and get higher levels.

The character system allows players to form a team by recruiting companions called partners. These partners are just like regular MMORPG characters. They have stats, skills, abilities and equip gear. Bleach Online gear is divided in 6 categories: headbands, armors, belts, cloaks, shoes and weapons. There are also 6 color coded tiers that determine quality. Players are able to collect materials and craft equipment by visiting the Blacksmith NPC located in Blue Steam Gate. Fortifying is a process that enhances gear attributes. Partners are recruited from the Tavern. Bleach Online players can have a maximum of 10 partners at a time. A combat team supports 5 partners. Dismissed partners are not forever lost, they simply go back to the Tavern. Bleach Online has turn based combat. The attack order is determined by partner’s speed. Each partner fulfills a combat role: vanguard (tank), assaulter (dps) or support. Partners receive stats bonuses based on their role. Spirit stones are an additional way to boost stats. Stamina spirit stone increases HP, block spirit stone enhances block rate and so on. Spirit stones can be bought from the Bleach Online store or awarded for taking part in various game activities.

Daily PvE and PvP activities are available to all Bleach Online players. Evil Spirit is a world boss battle. Ryoka Attack is a PvE event where players have to protect the city against waves of mobs. Like all MMO browser games, Bleach Online has instanced dungeons. Each instance has 2 modes: normal and hard. The second mode is unlocked after completing the dungeon at least once in normal mode. Guild War is a siege warfare PvP event. Protect Seireitei is an event where all guilds from a server clash in a massive PK confrontation. Arena is available for level 20+ players. Bleach Online is free to play and has optional VIP membership, premium players gain some advantages but there’s enough content to keep free players engaged and entertained for a long time.

Go Games’ Bleach Online (PC, Browser-Based)

I’ve been seeing Bleach Online pop up in a lot of places these days (including my own site’s ads). Receiving a personal invite from a friend claiming that it’s “similar to Marvel Avengers Alliance, but with Bleach characters” was the straw that finally broke the camel’s back, as I have spent quite a bit of time mucking around with MAA. Bleach Online seems like something that I’d enjoy even if I don’t have enough free time to delve deep into what the game has to offer. I also figured I could post an entry about it given the theme of my site, maybe even help people who want to try the game but aren’t sure if it’s a real game or just a scam. If you're one of these people - it's not a scam. It's a real Bleach game that can be played on your browser.

First Things First: Legal Issues

Now, anybody who’s familiar with Bleach and the handful of anime games online knows that the characters, names, symbols and any other copyrighted IP in the games are being used without permission from the owners. Bleach Online is no different, and this one is particularly noticeable because it uses assets (namely from the audio) from other Bleach games – which is something that a big name developer will not give away freely (and something that is unnecessary for a legitimate online game developer because it’s easy to produce on their own.)

Basically, if you’re going to play this game, don’t expect too much and don’t get attached to your progress as it could disappear anytime, especially since Japan has started bolstering their online campaign against copyright infringement for manga and anime-related properties earlier this month.

Now, let’s get on with discussing the game itself.

As mentioned above, Bleach Online is a browser-based game so there’s no need to worry about system requirements as long as you have an up-to-date browser that supports the APIs used by browser-based games (namely Flash and JS.) I don’t know if it’s playable with a netbook, but I’m using a low end PC with an IGP and a browser that has hardware acceleration turned off and the game still ran fairly smooth, so it’s likely that Bleach Online will run even on an el cheapo portable.

Graphics-wise, the game looks good. Ichigo, General Yamamoto, Shunsui, etc. all look exactly like they should and even the custom characters designed for the game look exceptional – they fit in with the general theme. The male user character does remind me of Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear, though. Audio is also decent and as mentioned above – you’ll recognize some of it if you’ve been playing a lot of Bleach games. The attack animation, even if not occurring in real time, also look impressive and devastating even at the lower levels.

The first negative thing about the game is that the screens look cluttered. There’s way too many things to click and there’s way too many things going on at once. If you’re an MMO veteran, you’ll easily get the hang of things but it’s easy for a newcomer to be overwhelmed. What’s worse is the amount of text you have to wade through – and it’s not like the text is a joy to read. They’re poorly structured and obviously written by someone who doesn't speak native English. Thankfully, you can speed things up by clicking anywhere on the screen and the quest can be done on semi-autopilot by just clicking the auto task, but if you’re doing things this way then it renders the story and the text completely useless, which is just wrong on games that are part RPG.

Gameplay is similar to most browser-based SRPGs these days. It’s turn based between your character(s) and the enemies, although with Bleach Online even the combat is on auto pilot. The gameplay itself is just clicking on an enemy icon on the map screen and then watching as the cpu plays on its own.

I spent an hour or so playing the game before deciding that there’s really not much in this one that can be considered as a proper game. It’s basically just watching the stats rise while looking at pictures of Bleach characters - if that makes you happy, then good for you, you’ll enjoy Bleach Online. But if you want an enjoyable browser-based game, there are tons of other games that would do a better job.

The Review Of Bleach Online

The Review Of Bleach Online | BleachOnline | Scoop.it

Bleach Online went into Open Beta a few days ago and we took a first look at this new MMORPG to see what it was all about and just exactly what it offered. This title, in case you don't know it, is based on the popular Japanese manga by the same name, which revolves around the adventures of a character known as Ichigo Kurosaki; high school student that is able to see ghosts.
The game is a free to play browser-based MMO and as soon as we logged in we were already in the game and the icons and flashing pop-ups scattered all across the screen pretty much indicated this was a Chinese/Japanese style MMORPG with lots of freebies, rewards and other elements almost synonymous with these types of MMO’s. The game jumped straight into the story where presumably we meet a lot of characters early on that are well known in the manga anime, unfortunately there is very little exposition or information on who these characters are mean the game is probably well geared towards fans of the series.

As with many MMO RPG’s of this type it is a very automated system using auto pathing to move between NPC’s and quest objectives and fully automated combat where the heroes in the party performed their skills and abilities without any player interaction. At the heart of the game players are responsible for building up their Battle Power, a value that is always a display to show you how strong you are in comparison to other players and NPC AI challenges. Raising your Battle Power is done by levelling up your hero and any companion party members that you discover as well as equipping them with weapons and gear and increasing your Soul through the Soul Map.

The game heavily focuses on showering players with gifts and rewards constantly for continued play, whether in the form of a daily login bonus, an extra bonus each time players level up (which doesn’t take that long), and item rewards each time a player wins battle, quest rewards, refresh rewards… the list goes on. Aside from that players can take advantage of the VIP function where they can earn extra XP by topping up and having access to better services and privileges such as the ability to purchase more vitality chances, discounts on spirits stones, auto win in taverns and many more shortcuts for the game.

The gameplay with games like this is always hit and miss, some players love them and some players loathe them, but whichever side of the fence you stand on his hard to deny that they have great appeal for many players and are extremely popular especially when the game is formed around an already successful IP. The developers seem to have stuck to the core of Bleach in so far as the same characters, story themes and even powers and abilities seen by heroes in the animated series are reflected in the game.

The graphics hold up quite well and loot like an animated manga with smooth movement as players manoeuvre around the maps or full animations in battle, they do however take an unexpected style twist in the Overland maps where the icons are represented as more chibi style characters (a bit of a stretch from manga). The biggest problem was the actual retail space on our screen wasn’t all that big even when expanded to full screen mode the game window still only sat in the middle and was crowned constantly with icons and pop-ups that really dominated the limited space available and felt a little bit crowded.

The major drawback aside from the window size was the story itself, which was completely uninspiring and confusing to anyone that isn’t already familiar with the Bleach franchise whereas someone who has never heard of the show most of the references that they made had absolutely no context and no doubt other players in my situation would feel exactly the same (though if it has been made and marketed specifically for fans of the show then it’s no doubt been done successfully).

Very soon we'll publish a profile of this game, so stay tuned if you wish to know more.
