YouTube: A Useful Social Media Marketing Tool

YouTube: A Useful Social Media Marketing Tool | BizPreneurs & Online Marketing | Scoop.it

When you think of social media marketing, does your mind naturally wander to Facebook and Twitter? Well, it’s time to incorporate YouTube into your social media marketing plan as well.

Even if your dental office isn’t large, YouTube can offer your dental practice:

Longevity. Once uploaded, YouTube videos are available for viewers to see repeatedly and indefinitely.Time savings. Unlike a blog, which some suggest you should write at least write once a week, you don’t need to upload videos daily or even weekly.Exposure. Videos are a great cross-marketing tool because you can include them in social networking channels like Facebook and Twitter.

These are only some of the benefits of using YouTube. Let’s look at two more.

YouTube Attracts a Broad Audience

According to a 2010 post from Mashable, within 18 months of YouTube’s inception back in 2005 it was one of the “most trafficked on the web.” More importantly, as this 2013 post from Moz suggests:

By and large, people don’t go to YouTube to find products or services to buy; they don’t go there to get news, restaurant recommendations, or travel directions. They go there for one reason – to watch a video, with the goal of finding something informative or entertaining.

With the right angle, YouTube is the perfect vehicle for reaching new and current dental patients. Where else can you share interesting tips about dental care or testimonials about the wonderful service your team renders?

But don’t limit yourself to the standard fare. You might want to consider creating a funny video about a trip to the dentist or one that shows what happens if you don’t take care of your teeth. Creativity can help drive more dental patients to your website. To find out what’s trending, check out YouTube’s Trend Map.

YouTube Videos Tend to Rise to the Top

When it comes to SEO, YouTube videos have a very high ranking on Google. In fact, according to a Searchmetrics report released June 2014, 85 percent of search queries trigger Universal Search results. Universal Search integrates “videos, images, maps, shopping and news results within the organic search listings displayed by Google.” Of these results, video content appears in 65 percent of searches. YouTube videos appear in 54 percent of the searches.

That means when a dental patient conducts an online search for dental information, video links will appear in the top spots.  If your dental video makes sufficient impact, you have a better chance of a higher ranking.

Whatever social media marketing tools you choose, don’t ignore YouTube as an avenue for reaching dental patients.

How does Facebook decide what to show in my news feed?

How does Facebook decide what to show in my news feed? | BizPreneurs & Online Marketing | Scoop.it
Controversial emotion study is a reminder that the social network's filters are constantly at work in the background. By Stuart Dredge
Karen Ann Teeters's insight:

..Facebook has been much more open about its general practice of filtering the status updates and page posts that you see in your feed when logging on from your various devices. In fact, it argues that these filters are essential.

Essential? Why can't Facebook just show me an unfiltered feed?

Because, it argues, the results would be overwhelming. "Every time someone visits news feed there are on average 1,500 potential stories from friends, people they follow and pages for them to see, and most people don’t have enough time to see them all,” wrote Facebook engineer Lars Backstrom in a blog post in August 2013.

Three Tips for the Social Media Newbie | BasicBizSiteMakers.com

Three Tips for the Social Media Newbie | BasicBizSiteMakers.com | BizPreneurs & Online Marketing | Scoop.it
Three Tips for the Social Media Newbie--Expert Social Media Training The best thing I did was attend a live workshop by a local expert. With a power-point presentation, I could actually see what other successful businesses were doing with social networking. I could read a well written micro-blog and see how everything interacts. Write a new blog entry-Share it on Facebook-Distribute it with a newsletter-Tweet it on Twitter and Microblog it on LinkedIn. Use software to make it quick and easy. It started to make sense. And the best advice was to start following similar businesses who were using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Karen Ann Teeters's insight:

I always emphasize the importance of first having an excellent, easy to use website because that is the hub of all your social media efforts. If you do not have a nice home to invite all you social media friends to, then you have wasted your time.

But once you have a customer friendly, professional looking website in place, then what do do? My new client explained to me that she had started her Facebook page and she filled in the profile for her LinkedIn account and she had posted a few things but she still was not sure what her goal was or what she should do next. She even bought a few books on the subject but was still confused. I explained to her that she was on the right track by contacting me because I was in her same situation myself when I first started. I got myself on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn and had read several best selling books.......

WordPress Tops for Social Media | BasicBizSiteMakers.com

WordPress Tops for Social Media | BasicBizSiteMakers.com | BizPreneurs & Online Marketing | Scoop.it
When you use social media in tandem with your website presence you need to think of its use like a two way street of communication. When people visit your site, you want to engage them enough with your content and offers so that they sign up for your newsletter, like your business Facebook page, link with your engaging tip oriented Twitter account and also follow your LinkedIn account if your business is professional or business to business. When I have been lucky enough to find a website I really like, yes I will do all four actions!
Karen Ann Teeters's insight:

I sign up for the newsletter,  follow them on Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn. And I can do this in a matter of seconds because all the Icon link buttons and newsletter op-tin invites are sitting together in the upper right hand sidebar which is the hottest real estate you've got on your site!

So that's one side of the street or communication when it comes to social media and your website. The other side has to do with your delicious, inviting content that is so on point and leading edge that your readers want to share it. So you  need your Like Me and Tweet Me buttons for your Facebook and Twitter readers that want to share your blog article content with their own faithful followers......

or Customized WordPress Websites are the Professional Choice for Small BizPreneurs   by Karen A.
Karen Ann Teeters's insight:
by Karen A. Teeters As a website designer and online marketing consultant for small business, I find that many of my clients hire me because they are extremely disappointed with the search engine rankings and number of visitors to their websites. The majority of these websites were built by amateur friends or by the owner on do it yourself (DIY)  template sites. The site might look good but my clients eventually realize after a few months or even a few years that they need professional help to improve their local search optimization and to create social media ready websites...

Is SEO Dead? | BizPreneurs & Online Marketing | Scoop.it

So is it still good to use keywords that  can help people find your page? Yes, but Google is now emphasizing really good content over seo tricks to get high rankings. Good content is King.
