Every business needs marketing stories (there is more than just one). Here is a terrific article by Sonia Simone that lays out the essential elements every marketing story needs.

I like that Simone discusses who the real hero of the story is -- your customer -- and how to think about that. This is a very crticial point to get. Otherwise your stories will miss the mark.

Simone explains all the elements in a way that is very easy to understand. She gives examples, and lays out the elements following story structure. That makes the topic even easier to grasp and take action on.

Other business stories you may use to transfer knowledge, bring your vision and values to life, build teamwork and leadership may have different elements and different structures than what is presented here.

But if you need to focus on your marketing stories (and who doesn't!), then work with these 5 elements to win.

Is your company's story as exciting as Aveda's, Clif Bar's or Levi's? These 5 questions will help you craft an equally compelling story for your own business.

What a nice article by story colleague Michael Margolis on branding.

What I like about the article is how imaginative and creative it is, along with the examples shared. As I was going through the questions Michael asks I started to think differently about how to brand a company. This is good!

I hope you get insights and several good ideas by reading the article.
