Amazon.com: Indie Game The Movie: Jonathan Blow, Phil Fish, Edmund McMillen, Tommy Refenes: Amazon Instant Video
Over the course of my career I've developed a lot of products. Working on some BIG ONES now too (CureCancerStarter.org & CureCancerStore.org). You may not know it but you are a product developer too. We all are product developers now. Indie Game The Movie is the closest thing I've seen or read that describe the journey of creating a product. The journey is always twice as long as you plan and it usually costs 3x what you have. The journey is impossible, depressing, crushing, uplifting and magical all at the same time. I know why it is hard to find source material for the product development journey. Once a product is launched we quickly begin to forget the pain of its creation. If we didn't have this "magical thinking" ability to wipe slate clean we would never develop another product. One thing you learn about product developers quickly is they are driven to develop. One of my favorite sections in this film is when they are at the lowest point and discuss killing themselves. Strange section to be a "favorite", but no one kills themselves and we all know that feeling. I've been having that feeling for about a month now because we are getting so close to two big launches and so may issues remain. The fact that is always the way it is doesn't provide comfort or stress relief. Jumping off the roof feels like the only thing that will. Then there is the work. Thankfully there is so much work the little doubt bunny in my brain (you know the one) can't go too crazy, but he is THERE and tapping his foot (lol). If you are compassionate and want to help me keep my "doubt bunny" in check please join the Cure Cancer Buzz Team and help us beat the drum about CureCancerStarter.org and CureCancerStore.org in October. http://www.jotform.com//?formID=32517495657162 If you would like to see me burn in Hell first get in line behind my ex and second don't worry I am already there :). Somehow everything is going to be alright again right? LOL :). M
