Nikon Action 8x40 CF Binoculars - Optics Central

Nikon Action 8x40 CF Binoculars - Optics Central | Birding in Australia | Scoop.it
The Nikon Action 8x40 CF Binoculars produces bright images without going overboard with size, weight and make of a binoculars - only 760 grams in fact!
Vivien Clark's insight:

I love my bins, I bought them a while ago so look out for new stock. Optics Central was very speedy with my delivery. I felt using an Australian based company was the best compromise between buying in-store and trusting an online store from over seas. Would certainly buy from them again.

The binoculars are nice and light yet powerful enough to give me heaps of detail for appreciating the bird a while before I whip out the camera. I have both on the go either both straps comfortably around my neck or if I have my larger lens and tripod I can still use the bins as an easy spotter.

100% Happy

A group of black swans have been filmed surfing off a beach on the Gold Coast, astonishing swimmers.
Vivien Clark's insight:

Humans are not the only animal that can get enjoyment from water sports. I've seen Australian Magpies lining up four and five at a time, waiting to swing by their beaks from a bit of string.

Flocks of native Australian birds face extinction

BIRDS of a feather no longer necessarily flock together.

The Zen Parrot's curator insight, May 27, 2013 7:14 PM

Australia has 828 bird species, 45 per cent of which are found nowhere else. Australia's isolation has helped the proliferation of unusual birds, from tiny honeyeaters to the flightless emu that stands at almost 2m. Add to that a diverse range of waterbirds, seabirds, open woodlands and forest dwellers, colourful cockatoos and budgies, enchanting cassowaries, black swans, fairy penguins, kookaburras, lyrebirds and currawongs, plus 55 species of parrots, and we have an eclectic mix. But, sadly, 23 of Australia's bird species are extinct.

Love this idea for a project for year six students, it's one thing to create a stop-motion clip or movie about a particular topic, but much more beneficial if that clip can really be used to influence the wider community.
