The Devil Really Is In The Detail: Homelessness Services and Women’s Refuges Face Wipe Out

The Devil Really Is In The Detail: Homelessness Services and Women’s Refuges Face Wipe Out | Birding Beyond Boundaries | Scoop.it

The Budget Red Book confirms that from 2017 additional funding in the housing benefit system for homeless people's hostels and women's refuges will be scrapped completely from April 2017.  Payments to cover rents…

Mark Smithson's insight:
If IDS is allowed to get away with this I'm afraid I hold out no hope for humanity. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know how destitute 'Sick/Disabled' people will be just some simple math, (incomings and outgoings) making sure to take into account just a few of the many additional costs associated with been 'Sick and Disabled' heating 7 days a week - when people are sick and disabled their mobility for those who do have mobility is limited so you are not generating body heat, food healthy food, pre-prepared food, lack of food also makes it harder to generate your own body heat and or special diets and water to do extra soiled laundry and travel, if you don't get motability then it's owning and running a car or taxis, the bus stop is too far never mind you don't have the capability to carry home your shopping and these are just a few things. There is NO excuse for treating our most vulnerable this way, please do the right thing starting right now by signing https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/124016 and calling/writing to your MP and the PM and the newspapers in defense of our 'Sick and Disabled', they need YOUR help.

They have attacked 'Sick and Disabled' people's 'Social Security' and refused to do a cumulative impact assessment, because it would be proof in black and white of what they had done and how destitute they were making our most vulnerable, never mind doing everything they possibly can to keep hidden the number of deaths, thanks to their reforms, they are capable of anything!

Mark Smithson's insight:

I'm over 50 yrs old and can honestly say I have never encountered such cold, inhumane, disgusting treatment of our most vulnerable the sick and disabled people of our society as I have seen and read about and watched in the commons since the Tories came to power several years ago; how anyone thinks they have any kind of humanity and treat our most vulnerable as they have and continue to do I hope I never know because that would make me like them. As for anyone who does have an ounce of compassion or empathy you can do something to help, let your MP and the PM know how you feel and disgusted you are and sign any and all petitions, campaign for them in anyway you can please.

Everyone should watch Tanni Grey-Thompson's powerful speech savaging Tory plans for cutting disability benefit | Birding Beyond Boundaries | Scoop.it
An eleven-time Paralympic gold medallist used a debate in the House of Lords yesterday evening to urge peers to prevent an “ideological” cut to the benefits of ill and disabled people.

Lady Tanni Grey-Thompson, who enjoyed extraordinary success in the Paralympics before becoming a peer in the upper chamber, dismissed ministers’ claims that cutting the benefits of disabled people will incentivise them to find work.

Suing The DWP - a Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

Suing The DWP - a Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions | Birding Beyond Boundaries | Scoop.it
Dear Sir/Madam

Could you please provide me with the following information.

How many decision makers have been taken to small claims court under the Fraud Act 2006 for misrepresenting a client's information on a claim form?

Fraud Act 2006
2 Fraud by false representation
(1)(ii)A person is in breach of this section if he causes loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.
(2)(a) A representation is false if it is untrue or misleading, or (b) the person making it knows that it is, or might be, untrue or misleading.
12 Liability of company officers for offences by company
(2)(a) If the offence is proved to have been committed with the consent or connivance of a director, manager, secretary or other similar officer he is guilty of the offence and liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly.

The aforementioned employee/s can also be held financially accountable for any other loss of benefit that accompanies the original benefit ie. Severe Disability or Council Tax Rebate.
This is an English Law, however, it extends to Scotland on the ground that even though DWP employees are based in Scotland, their headquarters are in England.
So I would like you to include figures for both.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Yours sincerely
Ms C Smith
