Free Technology for Teachers: Symbolab - A Scientific Equation Search Engine | BiotoposChemEng | Scoop.it

Are you looking for a scientific equation search engine? If so check out Symbolab, a search engine that is semantic. Richard Byrne states "rather than just searching the text of your query Symabolab attempts to interpret and search for the meaning of your query" and he suggests you think of "Symbolab as a cross between Google and Wolfram Alpha."

University of the Future - Report

Ernst & Young’s view is that the higher education sector is
undergoing a fundamental transformation in terms of its role
in society, mode of operation, and economic structure and
value. To explore these themes and future directions, we have
conducted an industry-wide study of the main forces impacting
the higher education industry globally and locally, and the
opportunities, challenges and implications for Australian
universities.
Our primary hypothesis is that the dominant university model
in Australia — a broad-based teaching and research institution,
supported by a large asset base and a large, predominantly
in-house back office — will prove unviable in all but a few cases
over the next 10-15 years.

Building Your LinkedIn Network

Building Your LinkedIn Network | BiotoposChemEng | Scoop.it

LinkedIn is certainly the best social media platform for the business contacts and network. To be in harmony, it’s important to respect few rules and good sense. This post will give some information about that. [note Martin Gysler]

In his book Ultimate Guide to LinkedIn for Business, author Ted Prodromou describes how to best to leverage the networking site as a business tool. In this edited excerpt, the author details the two methods of building connections on LinkedIn.

How many connections should you have on LinkedIn? I'm asked that question frequently, and there isn't a magic number that works for everyone. LinkedIn isn't a popularity contest where the person with the most connections wins. LinkedIn is about building relationships and connecting with others, which is very different than the monologue communication of Twitter.

Chemistry videos

Alfio Gangemi's curator insight, April 29, 2015 10:02 PM

Once again this contains great information for chemistry teachers. I think this is an excellent resource for engaging students and also trying to create new interest in chemistry. It has videos on a variety of the visually interesting and engaging chemistry experiments and their reactions. I will definitely use this resource in my classrooms at the beginning of and throughout the year to help generate interest and maintain engagement with my students.
