Health Graph - Introducing the API from RunKeeper

Health Graph - Introducing the API from RunKeeper | BioSensors | Scoop.it

[DEV] [API] The Health Graph captures a user's fitness activities and health measurements over time. Each activity and measurement is a time-stamped node, and each node is linked to those other nodes closest in time. Devices can add new nodes to the graph by submitting health measurements; applications can follow the links in the graph from node to node to extract a user's progress towards his or her fitness goals.

The Health Graph API presents the Health Graph as a collection of Web-based resources, one for each node of the graph. The Health Graph API also makes available resources that enable quick navigation of the Health Graph, as well as provide access to a user's profile, sharing and display settings, and street team membership information.

WIMM Labs, an open technology platform and Device

WIMM Labs, an open technology platform and Device | BioSensors | Scoop.it

The open technology platform enables personalized micro-experiences through wearable devices. The 32x36x12.5mm sized device can be worn on the wrist, weighs 22g and is water-resistant. It's the ultimate companion for people who desire more control over their smart devices.

Based on Android the device can be customized with a growing warehouse of Micro Apps and can easily be embedded. The open platform gives developers the possibilty to design their own apps using the WiMM development tools and resources.

On the technical side the device comprises a bi-modal capacative touchscreen, WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS, an accelerometer, a magnetometer and can have up to 32GB memory capacity.

The application spectrum is really wide: from health&fitness over mobile payment to home automation to name just a few. We are arleady looking forward to all the devices that will be developped with the help of the WiMM.

Nike+ Fuelband vs. FitBit Ultra vs. Striiv | BioSensors | Scoop.it

Yesterday morning, I tooled up myself with 3 of my lovely desirable sensors.

In the afternoon, I was troubled as the 3 sensors displayed different measures for steps as for calories burned (delta is very high). Which sensor do you think we should believe the most ?

TY dbtmobile, I am to publish other tests results. I think that I shouldn't wear the sensors while I 'm sitting at my desk. My colleague made a test this morning btwn FitBit and Striiv and only while walking. Steps counts are very closed. But calories burned are still very different (1328 for Fitbit, 257 for Striiv!)

Game changers - four principles for gaming in health - PMLiVE | BioSensors | Scoop.it
As well as being at the forefront of the entertainment industry, games are a rewarding form of personal expression and communication for millions of people around the world. Games also represent the most powerful ingredient in the human interaction with technology; fuelling development of the interface tools people take for granted in their relationships with computers and driving technical development.
Games could be the most important digital health tool of the 21st century and have a highly influential impact on the engagement pharmaceutical companies foster with health care professionals, patients and the public.

MindWave Lets You Control Mobile Games With Brain Waves | BioSensors | Scoop.it

The Mindwave Mobile Brainwave Headset is a $130 EEG headset that’s compatible with iOS devices, Android phones, and, yes, even desktop computers. The headset measures brainwaves from your forehead — changes in electrical activity, really — which it then filters with complex algorithms to eliminate any interference from other electronic sources, and narrow down what those brainwaves really mean. Currently, the system can detect concentration, meditation and blinks, and uses these cues to control simple iOS and Android games..

AFFECTIVA's Biosensors to monitor U.S. students' attentiveness

AFFECTIVA's Biosensors to monitor U.S. students' attentiveness | BioSensors | Scoop.it

By Stephanie Simon

DENVER (Reuters) - The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has poured more than $4 billion into efforts to transform public education in the U.S., is pushing to develop an "engagement pedometer." Biometric devices wrapped around the wrists of students would identify which classroom moments excite and interest them -- and which fall flat. The foundation has given $1.4 million in grants to several university researchers to begin testing the devices in middle-school classrooms this fall.

The biometric bracelets, produced by a Massachusetts startup company, Affectiva Inc, send a small current across the skin and then measure subtle changes in electrical charges as the sympathetic nervous system responds to stimuli. The wireless devices have been used in pilot tests to gauge consumers' emotional response to advertising.

Gates officials hope the devices, known as Q Sensors, can become a common classroom tool, enabling teachers to see, in real time, which kids are tuned in and which are zoned out.

Samsung S Health launched: control your weight and blood sugar with the Galaxy S III | BioSensors | Scoop.it

Samsung is entering the QS movement by 2 entries: First they launched "Samsung Hope Relay", a free App on iOS and Android related to London Olympics event: every kilometer you run, Samsung gives 1€ to Charities actions.

At second, Samsung just launched S Health, an app for the recently-launched Galaxy S III that allows you to watch your weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels from your phone. It gathers datas from Sensors of Lifescan, Omron and A&D.

I bet Samsung is preparing its own QS Sensors. Don't you think so ?
