Instructional design models and theories: Information Processing Theory

Instructional design models and theories: Information Processing Theory | Bioinformatics Training | Scoop.it

Throughout much of the 1950s psychologists involved in the Information Processing movement began to view the brain as a neural computer that processes information with extraordinary efficiency and excellent performance in problem solving and critical thinking, through a process increasingly enhanced over time.

The idea of Information Processing lies within Cognitive Psychology - I highly encourage you to check Cognitive Load Theory and Instructional Design - and as a theory combines multiple theoretical perspectives that mainly seek to explain human learning as the development of networked memory structures.

To me Learning is anyway deeper learning as I am a hard critical thinking person, BUT as THEY want to describe it that way, WHY NOT, agreed ;)

Ainsley Stollar's curator insight, March 6, 10:57 AM

This article talks about how a type of learning called blended learning has been created to put minds at ease. It was created to help engage students in a deeper type of learning than the usual shallow learning implemented in a classroom. It relates because students are allowed to discuss their success without feeling the pressure of failure.

The World’s Largest Repository of Free Online Learning Tutorials

The World’s Largest Repository of Free Online Learning Tutorials | Bioinformatics Training | Scoop.it

Here’s a common scenario. Someone emails and asks about an elearning tutorial I have on the blog. It’s not always easy to find the specific tutorial buried in a given post. In fact, there are many times I either forgot that I had created that tutorial or I can’t recall where it’s at either. I know. It’s part of getting older.

Today I am going to fix that. I have listed every blog post that has a video tutorial that shows how to create something related to online learning. So, if you’re just getting started with building online learning courses (or new to the blog), now you have a handy resource with links to all sorts of rapid elearning tutorials.
