Biblical Worldview

Biblical Worldview | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
Martin Pierce's insight:

Does God only want the gospel to be preached throughout the world, or does He want more than that? A related question is, "What should result from the spread of the gospel?" Should this extend Christ's Lordship over the world? Should it affect morality, culture, and politics?

The gospel has affected various realms of life for people all around the world. I believe it will continue to transform the world in the future.

False Teachings

False teachings about God's plan, that cripple the church
Martin Pierce's insight:

Since the premillenialists can't even get one prediction right about the End Times, perhaps they should keep quiet. If they're so worried about the future, they can phone a psychic hotline for all I care. Better than inventing lies, and saying they came from the Bible.

This web page contains links to pages in which many harmful and destructive teachings of "rapture theology" are refuted.

You must be new to Scoop.it. I let you know who I am through my bio. Please take the time to read that.

Anyway, why do you act as if I stand alone in asserting authority for myself? I only curate information here, just like you. Then I add brief comments, just like you. If you have a question about an article, go to the website and ask the author. All the authors of the articles that I curate are in basic agreement, and I'm in basic agreement with them. I curate articles for other people who are in basic agreement with this interpretation of prophecy, or who are open to learning more about prophecy. I can't please everybody, nor has God called me to do so. I am spending my own time, performing a service for those who appreciate it. I am saving them time by finding some of the best articles on this topic.
Ayin Nebiyah's comment, May 28, 2013 4:15 PM
Hi Martin, it was important for me to capture your attention. Thanks for your quick response. I will take the time to read your bio as you suggested. You have a lot of interesting articles that drew me to your curate, and for obvious reasons, such as the one article above, I've posted it in hope it might enhance my knowledge even further. I am collecting superior articles for my own self worth and to empower others who are of like mindedness, I am seeking authentic prophetic truths based on scriptural analysis only. Thanks again for your reply.

Martin Pierce's insight:

Fundamental to interpreting Bible prophecy is the relationship between Israel and the Church. In this book, Mauro reviewed Old Testament prophecy to examine that relationship. As he explains, the promises were always conditional on Israel's obedience. The promises and the good (hope of Israel) prophecies weren't fulfilled through the Jewish people under the burden of the Law, but are being fulfilled in this New Covenant age by faith, through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Millennial Chart

TRR EDITOR'S NOTE: These distinctions are often not as clear-cut between positions as this chart may make it appear. There really is a whole spectrum, including varied views even within the same eschatological group.  For instance, within the Dispensational camp, there are major differences, and the Progressive camp of Dispensationalists may be closer to the Historic PreMillennial position on this chart than to the Dispensational PreMillennial position as represented on this chart.

Confessional, Theonomic and American Postmillennialism must be correctly defined and applied.  Those wishing to denounce or refute Postmillennialism will sometimes resort to distorted facts and even an absence of fact.  Even though Postmillennialism and Amillennialism share much in common, there is still much they do not have in common.   There is an aspect of Amillennialism (figurative 1000 year reign, etc.) within Postmillennialism while the two sharply disagree in other areas.

The central issue within each position is (should be) Christ, His Exaltation and His Sovereignty.  Any position weak or even lacking in these areas will also find themselves faulty (at least in some areas) in their eschatological conclusions.

Martin Pierce's insight:

A chart with descriptions of postmillennialism, amillennialism, and premillennialism.

Thoughts on the Olivet Discourse

Thoughts on the Olivet Discourse | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
To understand the Olivet Discourse (Mtt 24-25) we need to back up and look at the whole context of the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew, the tax-collector, is a Jew writing a Gospel to the Jews. He quote...
Martin Pierce's insight:

This is an example of the way preterists consider the context of each passage, and the overall background of the Bible itself, and thus avoid coming to strange conclusions based on a single Scripture passage.

No offense, but this is why I'm a preterist. We take the Bible seriously for what it says.

Literal and Figurative - What’s it all about? (Defining the Meaning of Figurative and Literal)

Literal and Figurative - What’s it all about? (Defining the Meaning of Figurative and Literal) | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
There’s a lot of confusion about what’s figurative and what's literal in the Bible, and about what these terms mean. How do we decide which prophecies are literal, which are figurative, and which are both?
Martin Pierce's insight:

I like things like this, which tell us what should already be obvious, only because so many people (fundamentalist Christians, in this case) don't seem to understand.

Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, Yet that scaffold sways the future, and, behind the dim unknown, Standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.
Martin Pierce's insight:

R2K (radical two kingdoms) theology is another form of heresy. Satan tries in every way he can to marginalize God's people. He wants to make us pessimistic so that he can take us off the "field" and put us in the bleachers.

This is extremely well written! I like the way Brad takes seriously the Old Testament perspective on salvation as an earthly and national concept, as opposed to the wordly and individualistic ideas we have today.

Unfortunately, he sputters out at the end by implying that we can freely pick and choose our eschatological view, as if the Bible is unclear on this topic.

Theology and the culture war: Millennium vs. utopia

Theology and the culture war: Millennium vs. utopia | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
Originally published March 18, 2006

Theology has more influence on world views and on political ideologies than most people can guess.
Martin Pierce's insight:

This article is unique in the sense that it covers the perspectives on the future of non-Christians as well as Christians. I disagree with Fred's opinion that diversity of theological views is a good thing because the Bible consistently presents only one view of the end times. Every Christian has a different personality, but that doesn't mean we should each have our own personal theology.
