Dominion in Genesis, Part 4/8: Three Perspectives on End Times Prophecy - Premodern Wisdom for Postmodern Times | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
There are three main positions on the end times: premillennialism, amillennialism, and postmillennialism. Two are pessimistic, and only one is optimistic.
Martin Pierce's insight:

This is my own writeup on the three main interpretations of end times prophecy. This article puts you in the middle of my blog posts on Dominion in Genesis. I recommend that you read all 8 of the posts in this series for a better understanding both of Genesis and of the time we're living in.

Gene - a prophet: How Bad Eschatology is like the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS

Gene - a prophet: How Bad Eschatology is like the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
Martin Pierce's insight:

This is a testimony about false Bible prophecy. It is my testimony also that this frightening, yet false vision of the future was bad for me. It didn't help me in my walk with the Lord, and didn't help me in any way to comprehend God's love for humanity. Rapture theology falsely taught me that Satan was the ruler of this world, not God.

One day, Jesus WILL return, but that doesn't necessarily concern us (in this lifetime anyway) since the timing of that is up to Him. We ought to enjoy God's Presence now, and be concerned about doing His work on the earth in the here and now, from the ghettos to the halls of governments.

Most Futurists: church fathers “missed” prophetic fulfillment for so long. If futurism is an error, that doesn't mean the Spirit has been a failure revealing...
Martin Pierce's insight:

This is interesting I suppose, but the problem is that many futurists don't believe all these things. They may believe that God plans for and desires to see a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, a future kingdom of God either in heaven or on a different ("new") earth, and a church that is completely subordinate, and subservient to a reborn Jewish state. Unfortunately, the author here demonstrates considerable ignorance of dispensational eschatology in all its ramifications.

R. Scott Clark's Heidelblog | Recovering the Reformed Confession
Martin Pierce's insight:

We can either recognize that the Old Testament is really about Christ or claim that the entire Bible is mostly about Israel rather than Jesus. It's inexcuseable for any Christian to take the latter position, and yet that's what some dispensationalists do.

This greatly affects prophecy interpretation, or misinterpretation as the case may be.

Does the Bible Teach “Blood Moon” Theology?

Does the Bible Teach “Blood Moon” Theology? | Bible Prophecy | Scoop.it
Prophecy prognosticators are gearing up for a new round of end-time speculation based on the belief that a tetrad of blood moons in 2014 and 2015 are a prelude or postlude to some prophetic event.
Martin Pierce's insight:

Anyone who studies Bible prophecy firsthand instead of only accepting the word of "experts" will see that this is true. The Sun, Moon, and stars have symbolic significance. Stars don't literally "fall from the sky." Give it up, literalists.
