Google Keep is a fantastic tool for taking notes, creating bookmarks, making task lists, and creating reminder alerts for yourself. Within Google Keep there is an option to set daily reminders for yourself. I have three of them in my personal account. At 7am, 9am, and 11am every day those reminders pop-up on my desktop and on my phone. They’re also present in my Google Calendar. In the video embedded below I demonstrate how to create reminders on Google Keep.

A New Google Docs Feature Ideal for Collaborative Writing in Class ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Two days ago, Google released a new collaborative feature called ‘See new changes’. As of right now, this feature works only on Docs and is not yet available for Spreadsheets and Presentations. This is particularly useful for co-writing documents. Now when working on a document with other collaborators, you will be able to see the changes added to the document as soon as you open it.

These are great resources if you want to give GClassroom a try, but really, the most important thing teachers need to know about this Google App is what I learned from some colleagues at an unconference this past weekend (nErDcampNNE): it is still very very young and definitely a work in progress. Having said that, if you use Drive a LOT with your students for distributing and collecting assignments, Classroom is worth a try. Just keep using that help/? icon that appears in the lower right corner of the app to send the folks at Google your feedback!
