Bruner Corporation » Promoting a Culture of Servant Leadership | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

Servant Leadership is not just a practice – it’s a culture of leading by example, which can be applied to both personal and professional lives.

By embracing the role of a Servant Leader, you are choosing to uphold and embody the Seven Pillars of Servant Leadership.

You seek lasting change, create authentic relationships, persevere with a non-anxious presence, invest in motivated people, and focus less on doing things the “right” way and more on doing what is right.

6 Reasons Core Values Matter

6 Reasons Core Values Matter | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

Core values–or whatever you want to call them–are a BFD. Some folks might argue that they’re not that important, but I’d suggest they rethink that position because whether they think they’re important or not, core values are a big deal.

Here’s why they’re a big deal:

1. They encourage a sense of belonging.Humans are wired to want and need a sense of belonging, so why wouldn’t we want to createcommunities in our workplaces that provide the sort of positive, meaningful belonging that we’re designed to desire as human beings?

2. They promote loyalty. They’re like a stake in the ground, so to speak. The more certain sorts of values are internalized by the folks at an organization, the more likely people are to develop a sense of loyalty to the organization and those values.

The first step in giving feedback is to determine the goal or the reason for the feedback.

This will vary depending upon the situation.

Defining the goal will help shape the process. Feedback is an educational opportunity for both the sender and the receiver.

Cuppa: Keep Calm And Fake It Until You Become It | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

One measure of a leader’s success is to cultivate other leaders. Teachers have the same power as they inspire their students.

As we move to cultivate the strengths of others, sharing the message, “fake it until you become it” just might be transformative in the life of someone who could use one more person in the cheering section.

What we may learn of Mahatma Gandhi | Noozmag

What we may learn of Mahatma Gandhi | Noozmag | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

He was born as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in the town of Porbander in the state of what is now Gujarat on 2 October 1869.

Mahatma Gandhi (that means “big soul” Gandhi) taught the world faith in truth and justice for all mankind. He was a great soul who loved just those who fought against his ideals to bring about peace with non-violence.

His goal was to help to alleviate poverty, liberate women and end the caste discrimination system, with the ultimate objective being self-rule for India. He tried to stop the conflict between Hindus and Muslims which led to his assassination by a fanatic Hindu in 1948.

Here the Top Ten Fundamentals of Gandhi:

1. Change yourself
2. You are in control.
3. Forgive and let go.
4. Take care of this moment.
5. Without action you aren’t going anywhere.
6. Everyone is human.
7. See the good in people and help them.
8. Persist.
9. Be congruent, be authentic and be true to yourself.
10. Continue to grow and evolve

Simple but effective ideas!

Learn to think differently! Try to change yourself!

Nat Sones's curator insight, March 4, 2013 10:48 AM

Great curating here. The impact of this content - known to all of us, but so often forgotten - is to sideswipe lesser ideas. While history isn't a history of great people alone, some people make a bigger dent in the universe than others.

The SEO Puzzle: The Most Important Pieces [Infographic]

The SEO Puzzle: The Most Important Pieces [Infographic] | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

It doesn’t really matter how much you study it, it’s almost impossible to get the perfect SEO (Search Engine Optimization) score for any long period of time.

Each search engine has their own algorithm to rank websites, and as if that wasn’t complicated enough, they change that algorithm frequently in order to perfect it and make sure that the same sites don’t hog up the top positions simply because they’ve figured out the x-factor in the algorithm to dodge other more popular sites that have the traffic, content mass, and extensive Internet presence enough to be ranked at the top.

I would probably need an endless number of articles to cover all the different aspects of the perfect SEO, and if I tried to do that, I would probably not be able to pinpoint it anyway.

There Is No Magic Pill For Great Leadership

There Is No Magic Pill For Great Leadership | #BetterLeadership | Scoop.it

I've been interviewing a number of executives for my new book, The Magnetic Workplace (Nicholas Brealey, 2013) and so far my findings have been rather interesting.

There is no magic pill for great leadership. Yet many organizations believe they can solve problems by handing someone a book (even if it's authored by me) or sending them to a one-day management training program at the local Holiday Inn. The results by themselves are usually disappointing.

Here's how great leadership is created:...
