A great lesson in humility... I think this article touches the major problem of social media, too much blah blah and personal promotion and not enough real useful information for all. It's to each of us to finding the right ratio between the two... I have an idea about that, and you? [note mg]

And now social media. Within social media, it splinters further--it seems like there’s always a shiny new network. Before Pinterest, there was Google Plus. Before Google Plus, well, you know the drill. And on and on.

Forget Klout: you can't measure influence on Twitter - Telegraph

Forget Klout: you can't measure influence on Twitter - Telegraph | Better patient outcomes through technology | Scoop.it
Companies such as Klout and PeerIndex say they can measure individuals' online
influence. Monty Munford wonders whether this is even true, let
alone relevant.

"Measuring Influence since 2008" is the grandiose claim on the Klout website that is supposed to entice people to check a score from 1 to 100 on how their engagement on social media impacts on their peers.

When I read this I was minded of the Hollywood film L.A. Story when Steve Martin tries to woo a visiting English reporter by taking her around his city. 'Some of these houses are almost 25 years old' he enthuses, thinking that he's impressing her.

Study shows the new Facebook newsfeed impacts negatively on small Facebook Pages

Study shows the new Facebook newsfeed impacts negatively on small Facebook Pages | Better patient outcomes through technology | Scoop.it

Facebook analytics site Edgerank Checker has released a study into the impact of the new Facebook newsfeed, one month into its release.

When Facebook rolled out the changes to the feed last month, moving from a two tab system of ‘latest news’ and ‘most popular’, to the real-time updates and single stream, it meant that users were exposed to more content, as we were now seeing every single update made by any of our friends, no matter what page we were on within Facebook.

The impact for businesses however, was that Page content was getting less exposure, as you were now competing more heavily for space. The study from Edgerank Checker has found that over a sample of over 5,800 random Pages, 82% experienced a reduction in the amount of impressions on the Page.
