The Rituals Of Jewish Weddings – Truly Traditional And Cultural

The Rituals Of Jewish Weddings – Truly Traditional And Cultural | Best Wedding Venues At Newland Manor in UK | Scoop.it
Robbin Cullen's insight:

In a society there are many cultures living together. The best part of democracy is that one gets to meet people of various cultures and get a chance to participate or watch their events and festivals. Weddings too become all the more colorful and one will get to see the different rituals followed in different cultures. It might not be quite common for one to attend Jewish weddings and so if one gets a chance do make the best of it and one will see a lot of historic and traditional rituals that the Jewish couple performs during their wedding. Before the wedding there is the Ketubah ceremony that is similar to the engagement ceremonies followed in other cultures. This event has the husband to write down a set of responsibilities that will be taken care of by him and the signature of two witnesses makes it official. It might also consist of the will, which will be taken into consideration after the death of the individual. This is a very serious decision and once signed cannot be broken under Jewish laws. Many people decorate and hang the Ketubah in the accommodations too as a sign of harmony and marital bliss which will also remind the person of the responsibilities.

The ceremonies prior to the Jewish weddings are known as Kabbalat Panim during which the bride and the groom are kept separately to complete their respective rituals. During the Bedecken ceremony the groom goes to where the bride is and takes the veil off her face. This has a reference to the mythological belief when Jacob accidentally married Leah, the sister of Rachel, the woman whom he actually loved. After this the bride and the groom enter a canopy and are seated next to each other. The canopy is a reference to the home these two will make and after that the groom reads the Katubah and after reading hands it over to the bride which finally declares them officially as husband and wife. Then further blessings are read by the Rabbi and with the break of glass and the shout of ‘Mazel Tov’ the ceremonies are over and give way to celebrations.

Hindu Weddings Cater To The Tradional Values Of Hinduism

Hindu Weddings Cater To The Tradional Values Of Hinduism | Best Wedding Venues At Newland Manor in UK | Scoop.it

Hindus particularly believe that weddings are the most precious and godly occasion. They particularly target maximum to the rituals which means they follow the religious beliefs to a higher extent. Recent trends in wedding shows a mixed culture from the western and Indian style where focus on rituals and arrangements are done in style.

Robbin Cullen's insight:

Weddings are something which is considered to be a lifetime occasion for the couple. They are supposed to be the biggest and most important event in the couple’s lifetime. The couple considers this event to be connected and focused to them only. Hence, they make sure that there is no room for errors. They target everything on them like their looks, dresses, wedding cars, location and many more things that would perfectly suit them. Apart from all forms of wedding there are Hindu Weddings which are uniquely different from every other considering the involvement and approach of the event.

Some people do consider wedding a symbol of religious modes where two people become one in front of the god. Hence, this event is considered to be high on and is respected in all respect. If one would consider the previous ways of carrying out Hindu Weddings then there will be a certain amount of surprise. Previously there was a complete segregation in the ways of arranging and conducting the marriage. Indian marriages revolved around the rituals and holy approach. Hindu gods and deities were worshipped for long times and then finally, the couple were called wedded couple.

Now, everything has been commercialised and also the culture as well as the approach are mixed in all forms. This means people have now become casual with the details in the wedding and moved towards making the occasion memorable. This is fair also, as an occasion which is once in a lifetime for a person then there should be considerable amount of importance given to it as well.

Now, there are a lot of arrangements keeping in mind the entrance of the wedding couple and their seating arrangement. The guest lists, flow of the events planned in the occasion, dress code for the guests and several others are to be kept in mind. This means there is a large amount of things which needs to be focussed on and a family member or the groom/bride can’t do it themselves. So, the event planner needs to be hired in any case. They are the best and they can enhance your weddings to make is a benchmark.

The Tradition Followed in Hindu Weddings

The Tradition Followed in Hindu Weddings | Best Wedding Venues At Newland Manor in UK | Scoop.it

Hindus strongly believe that marriages are made in Heaven. So, in India, the Hindu weddings are considered to be the most important and the biggest ceremony in one’s life. It is celebrated with great pomp and joy. It is the celebration of love and the life that the couple will share with each other for the lifetime. It is not only the union of two souls but two families as well. For this holy and lovely union, the wedding ceremonies last for four to five days according to the Hindu weddings where a large number of customs are followed.

Many rituals are followed before commencing of the wedding ceremony like engagement function, sangeet and mehandi. In the engagement function, the bride and the groom exchange the rings. In this ceremony, only close friends and the family members of both the bride and the groom are being invited. In this ceremony, both gets engaged to each other and are committed for the lifetime.

Next is the Sangeet Ceremony which is the musical entertainment arranged in the evening by the groom`s family where the members of the two families are introduced to each other. After the sangeet ceremony, Mehandi Ceremony is organized in which mehandi is applied to the bride’s palms, hands and feet. In Mehendi ceremony the bride`s hands and feet are decorated with Mehendi which is thought to be very auspicious. It is said that the darker the color of the Mehendi, the more is the happiness in the life of the bride.

After the Mehandi ceremony, the main and very important ceremony is organized- the wedding itself. In this ceremony, all friends, colleagues, relatives and families of both the bride and the groom are being invited. In this ceremony, both the bride and the groom exchange the flower garlands. The groom also puts Mangalsutra around the bride’s neck and even vermilion is applied at the partying of her hair. Only after this, the wedding is considered to be successful and both are considered to be the soul mates.  Then the ceremony is followed by the Kanyaadaan where the bride’s father gives his daughter’s hand to the groom. The couple then take the Mangal Pheras around the holy fire which is a promise given to each other that they both would be there for each other for the lifetime in every situation they face. Here, the wedding gets completed and the reception is organized by the groom’s family.

This ceremony is organized also at Newland Manor which provides the perfect year-round venue for an Asian or civil wedding ceremony

Asian Weddings themes are known worldwide for their exquisite decor which indeed is drenched in a huge list of traditions and of course the way in which they are celebrated. Traditions and values are of utmost importance and Asian Weddings do not compensate on any ritual that takes place during the course of the wedding. These weddings are attended by large number of people as such they take place at a location that can house such a large gathering. During the course of marriage there is a constant transaction of refreshments as such guests are served with exotic and mouth watering munchies every now and then by the staff. If the marriage is taking place in summer then the guests are even served with cool cocktails, cold drinks and other appetizers.

Generally a planner gives a cue to rest of the staff members and as soon as the couple steps on the stage it starts to rotate and this movement is followed by light or heavy instrumental music which generally marks their appearance as a couple. These companies even have grand preparations for the entrance of bride or groom. The halls are equipped with magnificent staircases and are floored with dainty yet strong tiles.
