BAY Announces Slogan Winners

The Belmopan Active Youth club had a poster and slogan competition recently.  Luis Guevara from Our Lady of Guadelupe High School won with the slogan 'Count on Me to be Drug Free.'  Egner Oscal, from Belmopan Comprehensive High School, won the poster competition.  Congratulations, Luis and Egner!

"The Second Annual San Pedro Softball Tournament took place on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Old Football Field. The three teams who part took in the event were St. John’s College, Belmopan Comprehensive and San Pedro High School."

A candlelight vigil will be held tonight at 6:30pm in front of Kayla Burgess' house in Belmopan.


"A candle light march will also be held in Belmopan on Tuesday March 25th at 6:30 p.m. from in front of Kayla's house at #10 Oriole Street around the Ring Road and end in front of Belmopan Comprehensive School.  Kindly wear either a green or white top. Candles will be provided. All are invited.  Funeral will be on Wednesday March 26th at 2 p.m. Nazarene Church in Independence Village.  A bus will leave at 10 a.m. in front of BTL- Belmopan"

Oil in Belize Debates

The Belize Coalition to Save our Natural Heritage is having debates on oil all around Belize over the next 4 months.  They'll be in Cayo on November 27th, when Belmopan Comprehensive debates Mopan Tech.  They are currently looking for volunteers to help with this and other projects.

 

In related news, they have released an ad for their upcoming TV show, 'Our Community, Our Oil, Our Shared Future!' 

 

"The Belize Coalition to Save our Natural Heritage will be hosting its 1st National Secondary School Debate on OIL IN BELIZE!  Come out and show your support as ten schools from across the country battle it out to be the first winners of what will soon be the best debate of the year!  Join the Coalition and students in addressing the subject of Oil in Belize as we start our journey toward a National Discussion on Oil that has never taken place!  (See flyer for schedule dates and details)"

The Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust  had their inaguration celebration earlier this month at the Belmopan Comprehensive High School.  BNE built a brand new classroom building to alleviate BCHS' overcrowding.  They've done many projects in Cayo over the last year, including one at Sacred Heart Primary and Santa Elena Primary schools.
