Great article. Cyrilla's Chocolate is mentioned. http://ecomayachocolate.com/
"The word cacao originated from the Maya word Ka’kau’, as well as the word chocolate from Chocol’ha and the verb chokola’j – 'to drink chocolate together.'
The Maya believed that the ka’kau’ was discovered by the gods in a mountain that also contained other delectable foods to be used by the Maya.
Since the cacao was revered as the drink of the gods, only the elite in the Maya society could afford to drink it. In addition, the cacao seeds were used as a form of currency, so only the wealthy had the pleasure of enjoying the delightful taste of chocolate."

"However, she never knows how the client will respond because reactions are different to each offering. So she does the best she can to meet the clients expectations in the viewing of properties while also narrowing in on the property that meets the clients desires to the extent they are willing to purchase."

Great account of going to the Belize zoo, the best little zoo in the world.
"I read alot of great stuff about the Belize Zoo. I'm not a fan of animals in cages or enclosures. But I will always take time to support financially, a program that is actually making a difference in a country. Zoos around the world are great places to educate people about conservation and get them up close to animals. In poor countries it's the best way to convince locals that saving the animals is best for their country in the long run. Sometimes it takes seeing a wild animal up close to capture your heart for the rest of your life."
This article has all the statistics from the ATLIB finals that took place Saturday at Falcon Field. Congratulations to everyone! Male: 1st Place – UB
The Purple Mango Pandemonium has something to say about ATM.
"Actun Tunichil Muknal was discovered in 1989 by a Canadian geologist. Archaeologists believe that it holds evidence of the Classic Maya religion as practiced in AD 200s - 900s. These are supposed to be sacred rituals to the rain god, Chaak, rituals that included bloodletting. The remains of 14 people, believed to have been sacrificied, can be found here in addition to various pottery and other artifacts."

They've found more Mayan artifacts on Burns avenue. This time in front of Casa Blanca and Ko Ox Han nah. Dr. Jaime Awe explains their importance in this video.
They not only mention the 'smart alec' signs at the zoo..."All animals (and plants/trees) are species native to Belize and it is hoped that by introducing these species to the people of Belize, there will be pride in them and a desire to protect them."
The 'From Alaska to Brazil' blog raves about ATM. They mention the hike: "The walk has its challenges including crossing the same river 3 times – it never gets more than waist deep though. More challenging is the mud that the path is made out of which makes it all very slippery."
They also hit on the fact that no where else can people have a similar experience: "Everything is remarkably well preserved and you can’t help but feel if this was in any other country there is absolutely no way tourists would be allowed in."

This is the trailer for the documentary about the international highway that will come through Belize.
"Weiss said he wanted to make the most of his five days, so he researched the country before the trip and decided to film how a small village of about 340 people is affected by the modern world. He found a sometimes startling mix of dirt roads and cellphone towers."
He shot a terabyte of video, impressive. Must've done some serious editing to get it down to 35 minutes.
"The final 35-minute film, "The Road is Coming," will be shown Feb. 23 at the Noyes Museum of Art at Stockton College. Weiss, Boswell and the film's text writer, Scott Stagliano, a 2009 Stockton graduate from Wildwood, will lead a discussion of the film."
ATM has been getting written about all over the world. From magazines to newspapers to blogs. We'll be featuring some this week. "I have a friend who, though he’s been to Belize many times, has never been to Actun Tunichil Muknal. I said, You must go. You must. You must. He asked me to explain why, but all I could come up with were disjointed words. 'Water' and 'stone' and 'darkness.'”
