Scoop.it!

GOOD: Multimedia capabilities are very good.

Less good: sometimes the media can be hard to control.

Doggie B News's insight:

The ability to insert photos video and audio mean that content reuse is very much a part of the scoop it plan.   And it means that you're not always starting from scratch or re-creating content that someone else has already created.

Multimedia makes your story pop, and that means that more people are likely to engage.

You can move modules around until your stormy has a cadence that reflects your insight.

Doggie B News's insight:

Actually this is very good. Scooby is among a number of Horatian engines, and I've tried at least a dozen, that allow you to gather content from around the web and other social mediums and bring them together in one place.

The content  you choose or create is not random and its placement needs to be controllable by you. If you are telling the story with a curated topic you want to manage the flow of that content. Not many of the aggregators allow you to do that well. Scoop.it does.  Scoop.it is not a Pinterest board With randomly similar topics.

Doggie B News's insight:

Easy to use and easy to analyze, Google analytics is simple to intergrate with Scoop.it.  It gives detailed information on your visitors, where they are geographically, the systems and browsers they are using, the time of day they visit and much more.  It is very helpful with content planning.

Not so good: customer service.

Not so good: customer service. | Excellence in curation: Scoop-it | Scoop.it
Doggie B News's insight:

If you send customer service a note with a question, you'll get a very polite response and an expectation set that someone will be back with you soon.  By soon, Scoop.it currently means never.  I'm sure they are working on it though!

Update: it took one week to hear back from support, but I did finally get a message from the support team. My issue is still open, but that may be on me. Glad to know there's someone home.
