It's not about controlling & setting up rules, it's about giving social a bear hug! HR Must Embrace Social ~ more than compliance.
The last time I went to a statewide HR conference several things happened:
the social media presenter didn't show up, (8 a.m. session), the other social media topics were about controlling social media behavior in companies, one taught by a lawyer / compliance person my own topic on peer learning and social media overload was met with some angst and even fear.
And...I learned a few things about the current state of things in the HR world.
A year has passed, and I'll be going back hopefully to share a new perspective on how shared learning and collaboration, with some good social media policy developed by staff themselves and good technology tools, can greatly help collaboration, creativity and learning on the job.
