15 Essential Netiquette Guidelines to Share with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

15 Essential Netiquette Guidelines to Share with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Bellaire High School Scoop.it | Scoop.it

"Netiquette ( net + etiquette) is the code of proper conduct applied to virtual online spaces. This code is dictated by common sense rules ( manners ) and social conventions. Teaching students about netiquette is just as important as teaching them to use technology in their learning. Crafting a netiquette memo for your class and informing your students about the importance of these rules will definitely help you create an engaging, respectful, and meaningful learning environment where collaboration and diversity of opinions are celebrated."

Thinking About The R in SAMR - Edudemic

Thinking About The R in SAMR - Edudemic | Bellaire High School Scoop.it | Scoop.it

"The end of the school year is a time for reflection. What did we do well? What do we need to improve upon? These are the typical questions that both individuals and school districts ask at the end of the spring. However, there is another important question that I struggle to answer as well. This is the question about how we have changed? What have we done differently this year to push our thinking and the thinking of our students? To be more specific, I find myself dwelling on the Rin Dr. Ruben Puentedura’s SAMR model, a model designed to help educators integrate technology into teaching and learning."

carldowse's curator insight, July 10, 2013 7:11 AM

Edmodo provides a simple to set-up, easy to use virtual learning environment which is especially suited to smaller groups. It's a hosted service (unlike Moodle) and works quite well on mobile devices. If you're thinking of offering a blended learning package to your learners then it's a good place to start.

Anne-Mart Olsen's curator insight, July 10, 2013 7:12 AM

I found that edmodo was particularly useful, as student easily identified with the platform.

Beth Dichter's curator insight, May 3, 2013 5:58 AM

This short (under 3 minutes) video created by CommonCraft provides an excellent overview of why students need to "think before" they click. Think abut using this as the 'hook' to begin a conversation about the digital image (footprint, tattoo) that each of us have online and ask your students to think about their image after they watch the video. Are there items that they may want to take down? Do they need to do some work to improve their digital image?

Dennis T OConnor's curator insight, May 26, 2013 12:15 AM

Common Craft is always on target when it come to the essential concepts.
