Being tasked with documenting Rachel Graham's shark tagging project at Lighthouse Atoll, Belize for the second year, I wanted to capture a closeup of how the tags look on the shark. Now remember, these sharks are first hooked, then restrained, measured and tagged, all the while struggling and thrashing to be free of lines and hands. Via BelizeNet.com

Cashews, Cashews and more Cashews is the reason for this two day festival held annually in Crooked Tree around the end of May which is held during the season for this awkward fruit. Awkward in the sense that its a fruit unlike many other fruits that has it seed growing on the outside and not on the inside. This cannon seen here was in battle at some point in the fight for the country of what is now Belize during the Battle of Saint George's Caye.
Today it is mounted permanently on the island of Saint George's Caye as a reminder of the sacrifices others made to fight for what we have now as Belize.

Saving Crocodiles with the Wildlife Emergency Response Team (WERT) and the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES) in Belize
Will Moreno's insight:
As a part of the Wildlife Emergency Response Team (WERT) we got the call to go help in securing and ensuring the safety of an 8.5 foot crocodile that found its way into Belize City by way of underground canals and culverts.
Between Evan Sims from the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES), Gordon Kirkwood, Graeme Kirkwood and Will Moreno from the Wildlife Emergency Response Team (WERT) they managed to immobilize this magnificent yet powerful creature for the safety of the public and the safety of the crocodile. We are happy to report that the crocodile has been relocated to the Crodile Sanctuary for further evaluation and future release.

Belizean, Jamil Smith, battles with the Mexican fighter until an illegal strike prematurely ended the match.
At 7:49 into the video you can clearly see the Mexican fighter delivers a kick to the face of the Belizean fighter while still on the ground. This costed him the match and awarding the Belizean fighter the Championship Belt.

These people are doing great work at Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic.
Always remember its against the law to own a wild animal and if you know of someone who has a wild animal in their posession in Belize, please report it.
