Cell Phone Brain Cancer Cluster meets official disregard - Virginia Farver, Fort Collins, CO, US | beetroot juice | Scoop.it

"I learned that similar brain cancers were happening to others on campus. An English teacher, Laurel Amtower, thanked SDSU colleagues for their support before she went through chemo and radiation. She died, too, leaving a 12-year-old daughter. She didn’t realize that some she thanked were probably partly responsible for her death."

"On August 7, 2009, nine months after Rich's death, I found articles and a video about a "Brain Cancer Cluster on the San Diego State University Campus." I read these (listed below) several times before ending up on the floor. I contacted the SDSU Administration, but was bounced around from one person to another..."

It is not high cholesterol but inflammation in blood vessels that causes heart attack

It is not high cholesterol but inflammation in blood vessels that causes heart attack | beetroot juice | Scoop.it
Simply stated, without inflammation being present in the body, there is no way that cholesterol would accumulate in the wall of the blood vessel and cause heart disease and strokes. Without inflammation, cholesterol would move freely throughout the body as nature intended. It is inflammation that causes cholesterol to become trapped.

Inflammation is not complicated — it is quite simply your body’s natural defense to a foreign invader such as a bacteria, toxin or virus. The cycle of inflammation is perfect in how it protects your body from these bacterial and viral invaders.

However, if we chronically expose the body to injury by toxins or foods the human body was never designed to process, a condition occurs called chronic inflammation.

Chronic inflammation is just as harmful as acute inflammation is beneficial.

Magnesium's Importance Far Greater Than Previously Imagined

Magnesium's Importance Far Greater Than Previously Imagined | beetroot juice | Scoop.it
GreenMedInfo December 5th 2012 By: Sayer Ji, Founder Calcium deficiency is a common nutritional concern, but how many folks consider the vital importance of magnesium in human health and disease?

New research published in the journal BMC Bioinformatics indicates that magnesium's role in human health and disease is far more significant and complicated than previously imagined.

While it is well known that all living things require magnesium, and that it is found in over 300 enzymes in the human body, including those enzymes utilizing or synthesizing ATP (the molecular unit of currency for energy transfer), the new study titled, "3,751 magnesium binding sites have been detected on human proteins," indicates that a deficiency of magnesium may profoundly affect a far wider range of biological structures than previously understood.

The proteome, or entire set of proteins expressed by the human genome, contains well over 100,000 distinct protein structures, despite the fact that there are believed to be only 20,300 protein-coding genes in the human genome.

The discovery of the "magneseome," as its being called, adds additional complexity to the picture, indicating that the presence or absence of adequate levels of this basic mineral may epigenetically alter the expression and behavior of the proteins in our body, thereby altering the course of both health and disease.

Most people know that calciul deficiency causes seriously affects bone density but how many actually know that calcium absorption requires the presence of magnesium in the ratio of two to one [Calcium:Magnesium]

This is very important article for us in India because none of the calcium supplements contains magnesium in the appropriate ratio and other supplements too are highly deficient in magnesium.

Avoid Diabetes & Heart Disease with Sunlight or Vitamin D3

Avoid Diabetes & Heart Disease with Sunlight or Vitamin D3 | beetroot juice | Scoop.it
Medicine has done enormous harm treating sunlight as dangerous. The heart disease and diabetes epidemics can be laid at their feet for that travesty alone.

A new study adds to research demonstrating the enormous benefits of Vitamin D3, and by extension, sunlight. The latest, published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, documents that Vitamin D3 is a critical factor in diabetic heart disease.

The inflammatory process is damaged in diabetes. Among other things, it causes monocytes, a type of white blood cell, to adhere to blood vessel walls.

When diabetic patients’ blood levels of Vitamin D3 are under 30 ng/mg, monocytes were far more likely to adhere. When patients with diabetes maintained a Vitamin D3 level greater than 30 nanograms per milliliter, far fewer monocytes adhere.

Thus, the clogging of arteries, which is associated with heart disease, is much improved when diabetic patients have adequate levels of Vitamin D3.

Urine-powered generator unveiled at Maker Faire in Nigeria

Urine-powered generator unveiled at Maker Faire in Nigeria | beetroot juice | Scoop.it

Four African girls have created a generator that produces electricity for six hours using a single liter of urine as fuel.

The generator was unveiled at last week's Maker Faire in Lagos, Nigeria, by the four teens Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, and Faleke Oluwatoyin, all age 14, and Bello Eniola, 15.

So how exactly does the urine-powered generator work?

Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.

The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.

The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.

This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator...
