Urinary Tract Infections
Urinary Tract Infections are one of the most common disorders found in the excretory system. This disorder is most common in females because of the fact that their urethral and anal openings are very close together. This causes there to be a higher chance of bacteria from the anal opening to enter the urethral opening after a bowl movement. In fact, more than 50% of women will suffer from an urinary tract infection in their lifetime.
Symptoms of this infection include:
-Painful burning sensation during urination
-Urine changing to a brown color & blood may be present
-Upper and lower back will be tender
-Chills, nausea, & vomiting
Although common, urinary tract infections can possisbly become serious and require surgery. The infection can end up damage to kidneys and possible kidney failure. Usually, urinary tract infections can be easily treated with an antibiotic. This medication can be perscribed by a docotor after you have been properly examined.
To prevent this disorder, maintaining personl hygiene by properly wiping from the front to back, is in order. Drinking lots of water will also help to prevent the infection by flushing out your kidneys. Cranberry juice is also known to help keep the infection away and a fast recovery if you happen to get an UTI. When you have to go, go! By holding in your urine, it becomes very easy for bacteria to develope into a full-fledged infection.
