10 Ways to Prevent Urinary Tract Infections

10 Ways to Prevent Urinary Tract Infections | BCHS-Amanda Nielsen | Scoop.it
Urinary tract infections, or UTIs, are the second most common infection and accounts for nearly 9 million visits to doctors each year. Discover 10 ways you can help yourself prevent a painful urinary tract infection or UTI from developing.
Amanda Nielsen's insight:

As you know, this disease mainly affects women (but can also occur in men). Prevention for UTI is simple. Take care of yourself by following these simple steps: Drink plenty of water. Don't hold in your urine! Wipe from front to back to prevent the spread of bacteria. Take showers instead of baths (so you're not sitting in your own bacteria....ick!). Wash your genital area before and after intercourse. Also, try wearing cotten underwear (this helps your business to.....breathe). Also be sure to have a steady intake of all your vitamins and minerals...This will help with just about whatever ails you.

And if you do by chance develope a UTI, it is usually treated with anti-biotics and will clear up quickly...just be sure to talk to your doctor.
