A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Seurat

Beatriz Pérez Pacheco's insight:

Dot is the simple element of art. Dots are often used in multitudes or in combinations to form images.

Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied to form a picture. The technique was developed by the artist George Seurat. This technique relies on the optical illusion that is created when two dots of different color together seem a new color.

Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" - 1884, is one of the most famous pointilism pieces using over 3 million individual dots of paint to create the 6.5x10 foot mural.

Are you ready to make a pointillist artwork? ;-)

Did you know creativity is not only a skill of artists?
Did you know each human being is born with the capacity of create?
Did you know creativity is not only related to art?
Did you know all children have the incredible ability to invent, imagine and create new ideas because they are not afraid to make mistakes?

It is time to help bring out the artist you have inside with some art basics; dot, line texture and colour. You will learn to improve your artwork to express your ideas better.

Here you have some ideas to foster your creativity:
1. Consider alternatives  (All of your ideas are good! Take note!)
2. Take risks. (It doesn´t matter if you fail, its doesn´t matter if your work is not the best. What does matter is youTRY IT and SHARE IT).
3. Use your imagination.  (Learn about others, research on the net, try new solutions... PLEASE!)
4. Try again. (If you are not happy with the end result, TRY AGAIN using a different method).

5. Take your time. (As you watched in the video, CREATIVITY REQUIRES TIME).

Maybe you are not going to be an artist. But... I´m sure you are creative!

Basic Elements of Art: LINE

Basic Elements of Art: LINE | 1ºESO. Basic Elements of Art | Scoop.it
Beatriz Pérez Pacheco's insight:

In terms of art, line can be described as a moving dot.  Line is perhaps the most basic element of drawing.

Do you know different types of lines? Can you draw an example of:

1) Vertical lines- lines that move up and down without any slant

2) Horizontal lines- lines that are parallel to the horizon
3) Diagonal lines- lines that slant
4) Zigzag lines- lines made from a combination of diagonal lines

5) Curved lines- Lines that change direction gradually
