The Adjunct Revolt: How Poor Professors Are Fighting Back | The Atlantic

The Adjunct Revolt: How Poor Professors Are Fighting Back | The Atlantic | Banco de Aulas | Scoop.it

A spate of research about the contingent academic workforce  indicates that Cerasoli’s circumstances are not exceptional.

This month, a report by the American Association of University Professors showed that adjuncts now constitute 76.4 percent of U.S. faculty across all institutional types, from liberal-arts colleges to research universities to community colleges.

A study released by the U.S. House of Representatives in January reveals that the majority of these adjuncts live below the poverty line.

I get to look forward to all this when I finish my PhD?  Why?

It all comes down to greedy administrators, the ignorance of students and parents about what kind of education are they paying for and the  lazy, cowardice of the accreditation and rating agencies...Whom can change this situation virtually overnight for ALL educational stakeholders.  Sad...Very sad.
