Sitting beside a student who needs help is a rewarding experience. Students sense we care as we move past the shallow aspects of simple greeting and truly caring relationships.

Mikko Hakala's curator insight, April 13, 3:22 PM

The article discusses failures and how students can learn resilience and optimism. Three dimensions:

1) Teachers should pay attention to character education (non-cognitive skills). Optimism can be learned, for example by enouraging flexible thinking. In short, input from positive psychology should be implemented.

2) Gamification, if successfully integrated, can produce failure-resilence.

3) Teachers sharing personal stories of failures and joys of overcoming them. Role playing.

36 Brain Breaks for Students - Infographic

36 Brain Breaks for Students - Infographic | Banco de Aulas | Scoop.it
Brain breaks are short mind-body challenges that offer students a reprieve from routine learning activities. Not only are brain breaks fun, they’re a simple way to refocus students’ energy and get them back on track!

Beth Dichter's curator insight, April 12, 6:44 AM

Do you have a set of dice in your classroom? If not  you may want to locate a set. This infographic provides 36 brainbreaks for students, all based on rolling the dice. Although many of these activities may not be new to you the fact that the decision is made by rolling two dice is a great way to engage your students, and to teach them a lesson in probability. In fact, if you choose to do this over a period of time you might also record each activity and at some point discuss probability with them. You might also print a copy. This would allow one student each time to roll the dice, and the other to read out the brain break.

Please be aware that you will need to fill in a form to access the graph. If you find this version too difficult for your students you will find a simpler version of it at http://www.yourtherapysource.com/files/Roll_Some_Fun_Freebie2.pdf

Monica S Mcfeeters's curator insight, April 12, 10:25 AM

Here is something fun to offer your students! Thanks Beth!

Lee Hall's curator insight, April 14, 4:27 PM

We all need a break now and then, but for some reason teachers think students can sit still longer than teachers will when they are in a class. Beth Dichter says, "If you find this version too difficult for your students you will find a simpler version of it at http://www.yourtherapysource.com/files/Roll_Some_Fun_Freebie2.pdf "
