Even so, the games were marred by several incidents, including racist chants at games involving Russia and Croatia, and German fans showing up to a game against Ghana wearing black face.
Trisha Quek's insight:

International sporting events are formally created to promote sportsmanship and multiculturalism amongst the team players as well as the fans of different teams who are watching the game. Racism has always been one of the main social issues we experience in our society. I feel that all of us humans are all the same and we should treat one another equally. Although we may have different skin tones, the colour of our blood are still the same. Racism is cruel and it is sad that we as humans judge our own kind according to our colour, religion or values. Racism is not right and it should be stopped.

I feeObama Fights Back Against Hobby Lobby Fueled Discrimination With LGBT ...

Trisha Quek's insight:

I feel that it is right for Barack Obama to fight back against Hobby Lobby which was discriminating about the LGBT group. In the world, we all have human rights. Although I personally feel that LGBT is not right, I think we should not be discriminating them as they are all humans like us. We as humans have the basic rights to do what we want to do. Instead of hating or discriminating the LGBT group, we should learn to treat them equally. Even though some of us disagree to what they are doing, we should still try to understand them and not be prejudice towards them.

Community Village: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving | Sometimes Racism is Subtle | Prejudice | Scoop.it
Trisha Quek's insight:

Prejudice and discrimination have always been the few concerning social issues we have in our society today. Even in this Charlie Brown cartoon, we are able to see a subtle racism against people of a darker coloured skin. In the 21st century today, where technology is advance, people are able to voice out their own opinions on things very openly. This may lead to a negative impact on our society. For example in this cartoon, the people of a darker skin tone are subtly discriminated by leaving a dark skinned boy alone to sit while the others sit on the other side of the table. The main viewers of this cartoon are very young children. Young children are colour blinded, they do not judge one another because of their skin colour. However, this cartoon indirectly gives the young children an idea that certain people are being left out because of their skin colour. And we surely do not want our future generations to have this idea or mentality.
