.... Who are Balochistan's separatists? A section of the province's ethnic Baloch are calling for the outright independence of Balochistan, after the 2007 assassination of Akbar Bugti, the head of the Bugti tribe and a former Interior Minister in the provincial government. The demands of the separatist Baloch have prompted the deployment of thousands of Pakistani troops across the province, who have been accused of extra-judicial kidnappings, torture, and killings of Baloch activists. ....
..... Brahamdagh Bugti, Harbyar Marri and Suleiman Daood in exile in Geneva and London respectively along with other hard-line Baloch nationalist leaders are quite vexed and view it as a sellout to the government, and a blow to their separatist agenda. Even the Baloch Sardars in the government are feeling edgy that the nationalists allegedly backed by the establishment may snatch power from them. Talal Bugti led JWP and Mir Hasil Bizenjo led NP too are having reservations. Given the conflicting perceptions, Akhtar Mengal will not have a smooth sailing. Once Akhtar decides to take part in the forthcoming elections, his opponents will dub him as a collaborator. However, the Baloch nationalists are a house-divided and stand on a weak wicket. In response to Akhtar’s demands, the Chief Justice demanded that all missing persons should be produced before the court and all proxy death squads created by the ISI and MI should be disbanded. His directive implied that he had accepted Akhtar’s contention without being furnished proof. Chief Justice’s stance together with the visit of UN team has encouraged vested groups and external power centres harboring ill-motives against Pakistan in general and Balochistan in particular to go-ahead with their agenda. Doom-Sayers say that the final act will be played before the departure of US-NATO troops from Afghanistan, and that the UN and the US will start making overt moves in 2013 leading to declaring Balochistan an "occupied area". ....

The Baloch National Front (BNF) has announced to observe 14 August, Pakistan’s Independence Day, as a Black Day in Balochistan and appealed the Baloch nation for a shutter down protest tomorrow. According to details the BNF has said that 14 August is a Black Day in the region because the British in collaboration with other international powers had established an unnatural state on this day, which has been engaged in terrorising Baloch people, other oppressed nations and peace loving countries of world since its existence. The BNF said, “All its departments including the army, security agencies, Parliament and judiciary are corrupt and they only serve the interest of Punjab.” The BNF further said that Pakistan is engaged in Baloch genocide from past six decades whereas the international powers’ own creation ‘Pakistan’ of has become a great danger for Britain, America and rest of the world. Whether it is the genocide of Baloch Nation, massacre of Bengalis and destruction of Afghanistan’s peace or promoting religious extremism Pakistan has always tended to harm world peace. The BNF spokesperson said in fact today Pakistan has become a factory of religious fundamentalism from where it brainwashes thousands of innocent people and send to Afghanistan to serve her expansionist interests. Whereas it also uses these elements to black mail her neighbouring countries, America and the world community. The existence of Pakistan and hence 14 August is a black day of the oppressed people of the region. This state to continue its colonial and exploitative policy has killed hundreds of thousands of Bengalis suppressed the Sindhis and occupied the Baloch sovereign state. Thousands of Baloch have been abducted and it continues to indiscriminately bomb civilians’ populations in Balochistan. ...

Balochistan: middle-class rebellion... “We are united in our call for an independent Balochistan. And we have sacrificed our lives for our cause. Ninety-five members of BSO-Azad have been picked up, tortured and brutally murdered by the establishment. Many of them were students at educational institutions like Balochistan University,” says Khalid, an office-holder in BSO-Azad.
Malik Siraj Akbar, the editor of the online newspaper, Baloch Hal, which has been banned in Pakistan, agrees. “Today’s Baloch movement is headed not solely by [...] tribal chiefs, but [by] educated middle class youth,” says Malik in the introduction to his book, “The Redefined Dimensions of the Baloch Nationalist Movement”.

KARACHI , Mar. 7, 2012 (IPS) - "We want our homeland; we want freedom from Pakistan and will fight till our last breath," said Zarmine Baloch (23), veiled from head to toe with just her eyes showing. She said the recent killing of her brother would not force her to surrender her struggle. Sitting beside her Maheen Baloch, sister of the late Qambar Chakar, a student activist who met a similar fate in May 2011, nods in agreement.
After a long conflict in Pakistan's Balochistan region that has left thousands dead or missing, the government is reaching out to the rebels, writes Ahmed Rashid.
By: Abdul Bugti ... And today the most cowardly and shameful act of the occupying forces was witnessed when Sister of a Baloch pro-independence leader Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti and granddaughter of Shaheed-e-Azam Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was killed along with her teenage daughter and their driver in Gizri Bridge, Karachi when the armed-men of secret agencies of Pakistan opened indiscriminate firing on their car when they were on their way back to home after attending a wedding of a close relative. She was wife of Mir Bakhtiyar Domki, a tribal head of Domki tribe. Apparent reason of her killing is to hurt the Baloch leader Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti and his family emotionally as they are far away to be hurt physically. We the Baloch are believed to be born fighters and our mother sing us stories of warriors in their berceuse. Baloch have fought against every invader from Alexander the great to the British imperialist forces but had never faced such shameless and coward enemy who can step this low to fulfill his dirty goals. The only word I can say is we the Baloch are really ashamed of the shameless enemy, The Pakistani state and its forces.

Balochistan, July 30: Khanate of Kalat was a princely state located in the territory known as Balochistan today. It was illegally occupied by Pakistan in 1948. Mir Suleman Daud, the 35th leader of the defunct Kalat Royal Family, lives in exile in London following threats by Pakistani forces. He is now fighting for the sovereignty of the Baloch nation. Though Balochistan has been facing problems for decades, the situation took a turn for the worse in 2005.Pakistan forces are brutally suppressing the people of Balochistan, targeting the educated youth, political leaders and activists.
The Baloch liberation movement is continuing since 1948 after Pakistani forces occupied Balochistan forcefully. This essay will highlight the importance of the institutionalisation of movement for sustainable resistance. Long live the Baloch Nation!
Long live the Baloch nation.....
When it is darkest.... When the times seem most difficult.... That is when you are about to WIN!
... Balochistan has been in turmoil since the partition that led to an independent Pakistan with a forcibly annexed Balochistan. Since then, relations between Islamabad and Balochistan have not been cordial. The Baloch have fought against the Government of Pakistan many times since then to secure the rights that have been promised to them. The first insurgency in 1950 was followed by revolts in 1958, 1973 and finally the ongoing revolt which started in 2005. These strained conditions have been exacerbated by a lack in efforts by the federal government to bring development and literacy to the region, which are necessary for Balochistan to become part of the economic and political mainstream. ... The situation becomes even more tragic when we take into account the fact that even though Balochistan is the most resource-rich area of Pakistan, the people are uneducated, impoverished and oppressed. Their dissatisfaction with the government has taken the form of a dangerous separatist mentality which is spreading like fire. The Baloch make a strong case, citing years of trying to assimilate into Pakistan but consistently being plundered and laid by the wayside. They feel that their rights have been trampled upon by every government that has trudged by since 1947. Recently, their peaceful protests gave way to violence and sabotage. Instead of trying to control the situation through dialogue, the government responded with brute force. The army was deployed to crush the insurgency and responded to concerned citizens, who reacted to a military operation inside Pakistan, by arguing semantics. According to them, a military operation was in effect when tanks, helicopters and weapons were deployed to achieve a goal. When the Baloch presented the cases of forced abductions and body dumps, the government blamed it on activists.
Pakistan must be broken-up into separate individual States!
Security in the region, stability of the economic/political/military strucures, and Human Rights/dignity all demand this outcome.....The Pakistani Government's own actions have forced this endgame.... [Even children can see this imperative....how long until World powers can follow THEIR lead?! ]
It is up to Baloch national leaders and the intellectual to find an uncle who could lobby for them at International Court of Justice, the United Nations and other world forums to press their interests.
