#US clears #driver running over protesters- District of Colombia Police says it will not charge a motorist for striking three Occupy DC protesters participating in a mass anti-capitalism gathering in the US capital of Washington. The incident happened on Friday, when Occupy DC protesters had congregated near the city's downtown convention center, Associated Press reported. The two adults, including a pregnant woman, and a 13-year old teenager, who were struck by the motorist, were transported to two area hospitals. Lt. Christopher Micciche of the D.C. police said the driver was not cited because he had a green light when his vehicle struck the three. The three protesters, however, have been cited for being “in violation.” While Micciche said witnesses have told police that the three pedestrians “either ran toward or jumped in front of the moving vehicle,” the demonstrators say the silver Lexus sped toward them with intent. “We weren't trying to get in front of the cars. We would have very happily, given the opportunity, stepped out of the way and let him pass by,” a protester said. Delete the scoop?
