A course for US military officers has been teaching that America's enemy is Islam in general and suggesting that the country might ultimately have to obliterate the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina without regard for civilian deaths, following second world war precedents of the nuclear attack on Hiroshima. The Pentagon suspended the course in late April when a student objected to the material. The FBI also changed some agent training last year after discovering that it, too, was critical of Islam. ....

RAMALLAH, Palestinian Territories — Vandals sprayed graffiti on the walls of a mosque and a university in the West Bank town of Birzeit near Ramallah on Friday in attacks by suspected Israeli settlers. Palestinian security officials told AFP that "Death to the Arabs" and slogans insulting the Prophet Mohammed were painted in Hebrew and that they suspected settlers were to blame. The Center for American Progress has compiled a report in which seven foundations has been paid $42 million dollars to spread fear of Muslims in America. "The report, titled “Fear Inc.: The Roots Of the Islamophobia Network In America,” documents which anti-Muslim organizations have played a part in the rise of Islamophobia throughout the country. The seven foundations include "Donors Capital Fund" and Richard Scaife Foundations, which received more than half of the $42 million spent. The money has also been given to five key "scholars", including Frank Gaffney, who are considered the masterminds of crafting anti-Muslim propaganda. Those scholars are assisted by the likes of Pamela Gellar and David Horowitz, who help pass off the negative information to Fox News, Allen West, and Newt Gingrich among others. Delete the scoop?

The acquittal of Right-wing Dutch politician Geert Wilders of charges of inciting hatred against Muslims by an Amsterdam court indicates that Islamophobia is on the rise in the West, an analyst says.
Wilders had been charged with five counts of hate speech and discrimination for his anti-Islamic statements on websites, internet forums, and Dutch newspapers. Wilders made headlines worldwide in March 2008 after making the controversial anti-Islam movie, Fitna. The movie sought to desecrate the holy Qur'an and promote angry protests across the world.
