Protest Planned Ahead Of Windsor Horse Show Visit By Bahrain Royals

Protest Planned Ahead Of Windsor Horse Show Visit By Bahrain Royals | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Families of Bahrain's political prisoners have claimed Britain is ignoring the brutal oppression in that country and actively opposing democracy efforts as the Queen prepares to welcome the Gulf state's Royals.

Amid a storm of negative publicity around the appearance of the Bahrain royals at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Prince Andrew today ducked out of a key-note speech at a UK-Bahrain promotional event on Friday, claiming he was double-booked. But the Queen's son has previously made no secret of his approval of the country.

This coming week, days after the Royals depart, Bahrain Watch says Britain is set to fast-track the deportation of 19-year-old Isa Haider al-Aali, a Bahraini put on trial three times on politically-motivated charges for his protests against the government. Al-Aali, who applied for political asylum in Britain, faces five years in prison when he returns.

"The conflict is on British soil now," said Ala'a Shahabi, the London-based co-founder of Bahrain Watch, whose husband was arrested and jailed for his pro-democracy activism.

Spencer Haskins's insight:

Will the British Royal  family really allow their good names to be tarnished with associating with monsters of the caliber of the terrorist Al-Khalifas of Bahrain?!

Bahrain: Last Throes of a Desperate Regime

Bahrain: Last Throes of a Desperate Regime | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

....

This is ironic, considering the al-Khalifa family themselves are not indigenous to Bahrain. They first came to the island as pirates from al-Zubarah, on the northwest coast of Qatar. This is why many protest signs carry the slogan telling them, “your ziarah (visit) is over, go back to al-Zubarah!” ....

When their efforts are successful, the al-Khalifa family will not be stripped of their citizenship for even they will be accorded that privilege. They will instead be stripped of their crowns and thrones, put on trial, and made to answer for the crimes committed against their people … Bahraini, Baharna, Ajam, Sunni and Shia alike.

The BCHR Holds the King Responsible for the Spread of the Culture of Impunity which Has Claimed the Lives of Tens of Victims

The BCHR Holds the King Responsible for the Spread of the Culture of Impunity which Has Claimed the Lives of Tens of Victims | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

31 Oct 2012

The Bahrain Center for Human Rights reached compelling and extremely worrying facts, after having prepared a deep report (study) by both the Monitoring and Research Committees in the Center, looking into the cases of impunity and lack of accountability to members of the ruling family and officials in the security forces and the army who were involved in gross violations of human rights, that violate both local and international law, by committing crimes of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary executions, deprivation of life, brutal torture, mock trials and the use of excessive force. This is after the Authority in Bahrain backed with forces from the Gulf states (Peninsula Shield) - mostly from Saudi Arabia - crushed the vast national uprising that was affected by the Arab Spring and that calls for freedom and democracy in February and March 2011 and thereafter until the writing of this report. ....

President Obama: you might have smoked pot in college, in Bahrain our "king" is high all the time, and he is fine with it because he is not running for re-election, he has Saudi oil and your support to stay the way he is.

To be high is one thing, but to be high and a killer now that's a bad combination.

Down Down Hamad, because we don't need a stoned king.

Bahrain: People disappointed by UK’s unyielding support to Alkahlifa torturers

Bahrain: People disappointed by UK’s unyielding support to Alkahlifa torturers | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

By signing a defence treaty with the Alkhalifa ruling family, UK has turned its back on the most basic moral issues, a leading opposition figure has said.
To defend a hereditary dictatorship condemned for the use of systematic torture, destroying more than forty religious places, imprisoning doctors and other medical staff and granting immunity from prosecution to torturers especially Nasser, the son of Bahrain’s dictator is a total abandonment of the least expected standards of human rights and human decency. Instead of rebuking the Alkhlaifa rulers for their crimes the UK Government has accepted to become a partner with them at a time or rising popular revolution that will not give up its struggle to achieve a fundamental political change and end the black era of this feudal immoral regime. The Bahraini opposition will continue its lobbying of the political establishment to end this deal which has proven the double standards in UK’s foreign policy. ....

Bahrain: Alkhalifa defeated in Geneva;

Bahrain: Alkhalifa defeated in Geneva; | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

The Alkhalifa clan has been handed serious defeat at the UN Human Rights Council this week. As the session on Bahrain’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) got underway it became clear that the Saudi-Alkhalifa spin policies and companies had been working for a long period to change the course of the debate.
Apart from the GCC member states, no other country came to the support of a regime that has been found guilty by its own investigation commission of “systematic torture”, extra-judicial killings and unprovoked destruction of mosques. The hawkish Alkhalifa foreign minister brushed aside any talk of reform or respect of human rights. He shocked the international audience in the Geneva session when he insisted that jailed political opponents were “criminals” thus dashing any hope of releasing them. The Austrian delegation grilled the Alkhalifa regime exposing its gross violations of human rights and calling for the immediate release of the political leadership of the revolution. While the British and American delegates disguised their support of the regime by urging it to undertake more serious reforms, ten international human rights bodies, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and others, lambasted the Alkhalifa FM and scrutinised the embattled and unpopular tribal regime. It was one of the worst moments for the Alkhalifa who had thought they still stood a chance of turning the deliberations at Geneva to their own favour.

Amnesty International commented on the UPR outcome arguing that “Unless Bahrain’s government now puts into practice the UPR’s recommendations at the national level, this will have been just a hollow box-ticking exercise.” Others who addressed the 21 session session include journalists Without Borders, Ifex for freedom of expression, Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, the Arab Network for information of Human Rights and the International PEN. They called for an immediate stop to the repression against human rights defenders and the release of all political prisoners.   ....

Bahrain teen killed in clashes with police - CNN.com | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

A Bahraini teenager died after clashes with authorities who used excess force, human rights activists said Saturday. ...

"The Ministry of Interior issued a statement confirming the death of a citizen tonight," the Bahrain Center for Human Rights said. "However, they stated that MOI security forces were defending themselves by following legal procedures, calling Hussam Al-Haddad a 'terrorist.' They neglected to mention that the security forces were armed and have caused the death of an unarmed 16-year-old."

[Terrorists are those that regularly take human life, this is the role of the Bahraini regime.  Terrorists are not those accused, in hypothetical argumentation, of taking human life.  There is nothing hypothetical about taking life, or about being the terrorist Al-Khalifa organization. ]

King of Bahrain has no testicles! ... Hammy the cowardly Moron! | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Hamad Al-Khalifa has clearly evidenced himself to be a witless moron and an amoral sociopath devoid of any proper gonads, backbone or moral fiber.  In a gutless expression of pure fear, he has imprisoned the greatest hopes Bahrain has for intelligent reform in caging the opposition figures of the AlKhawajas, Nabeel Rajab, Ebrahim Sharif, and Abdul Jalil al-Singace!  Al-Khalifa ignorance does not allow them to isolate the innate human need for freedom from their personal antagonism with individuals of the opposition.  Thus, they think that imprisoning people destroys the eternal human longing for freedom.

Bahrain’s Al Khalifa, a dishonoured monarchy

Bahrain’s Al Khalifa, a dishonoured monarchy | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Constitutional monarchies refrain from intervening in politics and concentrate on representing what the people have in common. As long as they do that, they can be honoured. Indeed, in times of crisis, a constitutional monarchy is a valuable rallying point which can become a repository of the people’s hopes and desire for salvation.

However, when a monarchy treats the country as its personal fiefdom, rules autocratically, and represents the interests of only a tiny percentage of the population, it becomes an oppressor. In no time at all it degenerates into tyranny.

Which is the case in Bahrain, where the Al Khalifa royal family has no concept of, nor intent to be, a constitutional monarchy.....

Does the King of Bahrain have any Balls whatsoever? #Bahrain

Does the King of Bahrain have any Balls whatsoever? #Bahrain | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Here's an idea about how to resolve the impasse between the Opposition and the Al-Khalifa clan:

Hamad Al-Khalifa, in a very bold and daring move, goes in cognito.  He assumes the identity of a Shia merchant who is to be jailed for aiding the Opposition!  He uses disguises and full anonymity to achieve his goal of going 'undercover.'  He has himself thrown in jail for ONLY the remaining duration of Nabeel Rajab's jail sentence.  Of course his security is guaranteed, Nabeel is a complete gentleman and a good Muslim!  Once inside he can parlay, arbitrate, and debate the virtues and pitfalls of the Bahraini system with Nabeel to their heart's satisfactions.  Also, he will get a firsthand appreciation of the horrid treatment prisoners receive at the hands of his torture personel!

This  is guaranteed:  he will have a new appreciation of the suffering of the Shia under his regime, he will have had his 'dialogue' with the opposition, and he will have dared to incur upon himself that treatment he so blithely metes out to his Opposition!

What do you think?  Does the 'king' of Bahrain have Balls enough to take what he dishes out?

Bahrain prosecution complicit in torture: says human rights group | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

A leading Bahraini human rights group rejected on Monday an announcement by the country's chief prosecutor that 15 police officers would be charged with torturing doctors. ....

But Said Yousif, deputy head of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, accused the public prosecution of being complicit in the suppression of the protests.

“The public prosecution are part of the torture, we have testimony of detainees who have been tortured inside their building,” he said.

"We also have testimonies of people who have told the public prosecution they have been tortured and they have been ignored. We don't believe it is an independent institution, it is part of the problem."

Yousif added that a number of ministers had been accused of being complicit in the torture but had not been investigated.

"Senior members of the ruling elite were involved in torture but they are only charging the low-level officers," he said.

A number of key individuals in Bahrain, including two sons of king Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifah, have been implicated in torture but have yet to face charges. ....
