From Bangladesh to Balochistan: A history of arrest, torture and mass killing - The Kurdistan Tribune

By Meerain Baloch:

On 27th of October 2013 a group of people began a 750 km long march from Quetta to Karachi carrying placard and banners inscribed with slogans such as “Stop killing Baloch civilians” and “Human rights organization must help for the recovery of Baloch missing persons”. An old man aged 70 led the long march as he himself had lost a son of him to the Pakistani ‘kill and dump’ policy. His son, Jalil Regi, who was a member of a nationalist party, the Baloch Republican Party, was abducted and after a couple of months his mutilated body was dumped in Turbat, Balochistan. A university student, left her studies to join the march and call for the safe recovery of her abducted brother Zakir Majeed Baloch, formerly a Secretary General of the pro-independent student organization, BSO-Azad. He was abducted four years ago and there is no news of whether he is alive or dead. Ali Haider, a 10 year old boy also joined the Long March (pushing a hand trolley showing a number of pictures of missing persons) hoping that his missing father Ramzan Ali would be released. Sammi Baloch, 17, daughter of Dr Din Muhmmad Baloch, and families member of other missing persons – mostly women because men were afraid of being abducted or target killed by the army and its various death squad civilian armies – all walked towards Karachi from Quetta – two capital cities of different provinces.

Mama Qadir Baloch and other relatives of missing Baloch persons had already held a Guinness Book world-record hunger strike of more than 1350 days, but they got no attention from the Pakistani establishment which contains no Baloch of any class or background. Theb they started the long march of 750 km on foo,t hoping that the establishment would take pity on their state of desperation. But again this bore no result, either for the recovery of the missing persons or to pressure on the international community to force the occupying forces of Pakistan to abide by international laws where such rules are not being applied to the Baloch.

The Pakistani forces of occupation are famous for their human rights abuses such as during the Bangladesh war of independence when they are reported to have raped between 200,000 and 400,000 women who gave birth to a countless number of war-babies. This figure is confirmed by Dr Geoffrey Davis, who was tasked with carrying out later-term abortions and who was tracked down by a Bengali scholar, Bina D’costa. Conversations between D’costa and Dr Davis were later published by a Bangladeshi publisher and are worth reading. They reveal that women were tied to trees, gang raped, their breasts hacked off, before finally they were dumped in mass graves. Hundreds of women were kept in the Dhaka cantonment and used as sex slaves – as has happened in Balochistan with Baloch women such as Miss Zarina Marri, a school teacher, and more than 200 other women. A few years back a journalist, Muneer Mengal, who was abducted by Pakistan’s notorious Intelligence Agencies and kept for several months in their torture cells, witnessed the shameful act of the Pakistani establishment in using the abducted Zarina Marri as a sex slave. On top of this, their stooges carry out acid attacks on Baloch women who dare to go out for schooling or for day-to-day businesses. Such incidents have taken place in Kalat, Dalbandin, Nushki and in other parts of Balochistan. While in Bangladesh the Indian army intervened and the barbaric mass killing of Bengali people came to an end, there is no such foreign help for the suffering Baloch men and women.

Pakistan is repeating its anti-human policies in Bangladesh in Balochistan. It is using the shadow army of Pakistani-funded jihadi groups, Jamiat-i-islami and other religious parties. In Bangladesh these are notorious with the names of Al-shams and A-badar, while in Balochistan they are famous as Musalah dafai tanzeem, Tehrik-e-nifaz-e-aman, Haq na-tawar and a score of others. Some of these groups are controlled by war criminal jihadists like Shafiq Mengal and Saraj Raisani. Direct and indirect army abductions have left 1700 mutilated bodies and more than 18000 Baloch activists missing, and the number is rising day by day.

When Mama Qadeer and his companions saw no response from the army in relation to the release of their missing loved ones, they began a new long march. This time it was from Karachi to Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Even then nobody is giving any attention to the blistered feet of these aged men, young girls and school age young boys and girls. They keep walking silently, 20 to 25 km a day, with great determination to reach Islamabad and this time camp in front of the United Nations office and beg for justice. The march from Quetta to Karachi took 27 days while this march is expected to take about two months because the distance is twice as long. Mama Qadir and his party members are being harassed in many ways. Recently, the thugs of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) gave them a shameful time in Larkana because they had refused the hospitality of Bilawal Zardari Bhutto, who is the son of the former President of Pakistan, during whose rule the ‘kill and dump’ of Baloch youth multiplied.

Now the question is: why doesn’t the international community take any action about the suffering of the Baloch people and why doesn’t it put pressure on Pakistan to stop human rights abuses in Balochistan? Are Baloch people not humans and are their persecutors super-humans? The world keeps watching while Balochistan burns and Balochs get kidnapped, tortured, and killed and dumped on daily basis. When will human conscience awaken and laws against human rights abuses be enforced? These are questions everyone is asking in Balochistan.

Sehrish awaits justice - the torture and murder of Zubair Baloch

Sehrish awaits justice - the torture and murder of Zubair Baloch | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

...

The killers had torture murdered another student activist for his valid demand of his legitimate rights. Many other students, doctors, intellectuals, engineers and teachers, also share the same fate as Zubair. Various activists were killed before and after him. Sehrish is not the lone sister to cry. Their family is not the only one to curse brutal state machinery. Thousands of others either wait for the bodies of their loved ones or they have dried their tears, like Sehrish, on dead bodies. More than five hundred activists have been killed since June 2010 and it goes unabated without any one questioning the unquestionable authority given to the killers. ...

The torture of Shaheed Muzafar Bhutto by PAK military agencies

The torture of Shaheed Muzafar Bhutto by PAK military agencies | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

... I was arrested from a friend’s home on October 6, 2006. I was badly beaten by a baton that is possessed by SP level officer. I was asked my name and I introduced myself as Ameer Ali. After the relentless torture for half an hour, they blindfolded me and took me to Karachi torture cell. They kept beating me for half an hour. The baton-beating was extremely painful. Then I was given 92 lashes with the force of both hands as a washman slams clothes. On account of strikes on spinal cord, I became insensible to urine and defecation. When they pulled my legs apart i had to undergo the worst pain ever. I went unconscious as the result of leg-pulling at ASR PRAYER. I regained consciousness at TARAVEEH PRAYER. I found my clothes stained with blood and waste which I was asked to wash then. I was continuously bleeding. After some bandage they put a sort of acid in my anus. It was so painful that it made me fumble my body about room like a fish out of water. They were laughing aloud and were making noises out of happiness. My suffering lessened when they applied some spray on my body. Then they put soap water in my mouth and nose which made me vomit. As soon as i started vomiting they shut my mouth and the vomit made its way from my nose. That was the worst of all sufferings. Then they tied a roap in my handcuffs and hanged me with a ventilator. As I was quite weightly, so it gave me such an unimaginable pain that i screamed so much that i had never done like that before and nobody had ever heard the screams like those. Then they made me stand for three days without sleeping for just a second. I was forced to stand except at the time of Sahree, Aftaaree and unconsciousness. My body was white, so the torture left the strips like those of a Tiger. Whenever i saw them i just bloomed with happiness. Whenever i looked at my cuffs I felt as happy as a woman when she has a look on her ornaments. I would become so happy that i would kiss my chains. Three days of Karachi torture cell were equivalent to three years. Most of the time i was unconscious but whenever i came back to my senses, i addressed my mother and asked her where she was, requested her to pray for my death. i didn’t ask you for such pray as i knew that you would not accept it any cost. Extreme tortures and enticements couldn’t weaken me. I confessed my identity as Muzaffar when they brought all proofs. Then they brought me to Hyderabad. An officer said to me that because i had not co-operated with them in Karachi so they would not allow me to die but make me beg for death. He threatened me that they would neither let me live nor let me die. I underwent the same degree of torture and wasn’t allowed to sleep for three days. On account of standing and not sleeping for 6 days my feet swallowed and i almost became mad. I was let to sit after 6 days. On October 12, 12:00 am i was told that Saima and Hina set themselves on fire in front of Press Club and were admitted in LUMHS in serious condition, for whom I should have prayed. It worried me so much that i couldn’t sleep for two nights and a day, although i was already awake for 6 days. Your concern killed all concerns and pains. A human being can bear each and everything but can’t bear the pain of his dear ones. Only then could I suppose that how much pain you might have undergone because you were aware of all the things they could do with me. ...

PAKISTAN IS A LIAR! - BRP refutes confession report of two Baloch youth by Pakistani media

PAKISTAN IS A LIAR! - BRP refutes confession report of two Baloch youth by Pakistani media | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Occupied Balochistan: The central Organising Committee spokesperson of the Baloch Republican Party, Mr Sher Mohammad Bugti, has termed the Pakistani security forces’ claim of arresting to suspected terrorist as a drama.

Mr Bugti further said that if one subjects the heads of Pakistani security forces to brutal torture, they will most certainly accept committing terrorist acts like 9/11 and other attack around world. He said Pakistan and its security forces were annoyed and hesitant of the growing international popularity of Baloch freedom struggle, hence, they were making such dramas to mislead the world.

He strongly rejected the allegation of FC published on Pakistani media which read “Frontier Constabulary and the police on Tuesday announced the arrest of two men allegedly involved in a number of bombings in and around Quetta. Authorities claimed that as per confessions, the men received orders and funds for their activities from Nawab Baramdagh Bugti by way of a Baloch Republican Army (BRA) commander.”

BE SHOCKED! BE MORALLY OFFENDED! ACT TO #SUPPORTBALOCH ! | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

We Baloch are daily receiving the mutilated corpses of our student activists who have been  captured by the Pakistani Army!

Imagine!  What if this wereYOUR loved-one, what if this was YOUR family member....

Would you be able to turn a blind-eye to this type of atrocity?!  Wouldn't you want people to know and to help?!  DON'T TURN AWAY, DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO DO NOTHING TO STOP THIS GENOCIDE!

When atrocities are being committed it is essential that people become offended and act upon the offense!  Take-up the cause of the Baloch people as a cause that effects all mankind!  To NOT act is to give these perpetrators license to act with impunity and causes this behavior to spread.   We acted to stop Hitler's genocide of the Jews,  Idi Amin Dada deposed and exiled, the Khmer Rouge were finally expelled from Government......this is what is needed now!  International outrage MUST be brought to bear against Pakistan!  #StopBalochGenocide   NOW!
