Killing of innocent women and children in Mashkay shows the extreme phase of state brutalities: Hyrbyair Marri

Killing of innocent women and children in Mashkay shows the extreme phase of state brutalities: Hyrbyair Marri | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Baloch patriot leader Hrybyair Marri said, on Thursday, thecriminal silence of Pakistani media, so-called civil society and international community on the ongoing military operations in Balochistan is deplorable.

Mr. Marri said that the Baloch media has been extensively reporting about the state’s preparations for military offensives in several regions of Balochistan including Kohistan Marri, Dera Bugti and Awaran. Nowas the upcoming elections are nearing the enemy state is intensifying its atrocities. But it is of grave concern that all these atrocities are happening right before the eyes of everyone but humanitarian organizations, so called free media and every other section of Pakistani society are criminally silent on this grave issue.

“Those who continuously try to convince us that Pakistani judiciary and media are impartial about Baloch genocide; they should ask themselves, why they do not hear any voice from them [Pakistani media and judiciary] in protest against the state barbarism in Balochistan. No one expressed their anger on the killings of dozens of innocent women and children and the relentless state atrocities in Mashkay from past three day,” Mr Marri said.

The Baloch leader said, “This once again confirms our belief that Baloch are alone in their fight for their defence and national salvation. There are no sympathisers for Baloch in Pakistan and as long as the Baloch yearn for freedom the state will try to kill them silently and in isolation.” He further said, “We have no complaints against anyone. However, we want to put everything on record so that no one claims in future about the existence of free judiciary and civil society which raises voice for human rights or sympathisers of Baloch in Pakistan.”...

....

The chairman of Baloch National Movement (BNM), Khalil Baloch, criticized world powers including America and Iran for supporting the Pakistani state, adding that "their aid to Pakistan is being used against [the] Baloch nation."

The most significant reaction came from the former chief minister of Balochistan, Akhtar Mengal who also heads the Balochistan National Party (BNP) and seeks a peaceful settlement.

Mengal has written to Senator John Kerry, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the next U.S. Secretary of State, asking him to invoke "The Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009," to immediately suspend all American aid to Islamabad. Mengal is referring to the U.S. law that carries John Kerry's name and is better known as the Kerry-Lugar Bill.

It authorizes the release of $1.5-billion per year of American aid to the government of Pakistan, but with one caveat: Every six months the Secretary of State has to provide assessments of whether Pakistan's civilian government has effective control over the country's armed forces, including "oversight and approval of military budgets."

In the letter, former chief minister Mengal told Senator Kerry, "there is clear evidence that Pakistan's civilian government has lost 'effective control and oversight' over a military that is committing widespread atrocities and war crimes inside Balochistan."....

State atrocities cannot stop Baloch nation from demanding freedom – Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti

State atrocities cannot stop Baloch nation from demanding freedom – Nawab Brahumdagh Bugti | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Baloch Republican Party chief Nawab Brahumdagh Khan Bugti has condemned the ongoing military operation in Mashkay and termed it the continuity of the Baloch genocidal policies of the occupying state of Pakistan. He said that the occupying state had intensified military operations because of the fear of failure of its election process in Balochistan. By these atrocities, he said, the state was sending a clear message to the Baloch nation that anyone demanding freedom will get a bullet as an answer. He urged the Baloch nation to express solidarity with their brethren directly affected by the military operation and to come to help and aid them. “Referendum is not our goal. We only struggle for freedom of Balochistan and we will not hesitate to render any sacrifice for that” he reiterated his stance.

He said that the ongoing military operations in Makran, Mashkay, Awaran and Panjgur were not a new thing but the continuity of Baloch genocidal policies of the occupying state. “The occupying state claims that there is no military operation going on in Balochistan but at the same time it has accelerated military offensives in Makran where unarmed and innocent Baloch civilians have been targeted. Mashkay is under complete military siege from last week and forces are busy in brutal activities where more than thirty innocent civilians including women and children have been martyred. Not only the privacy of households are being violated by the forces but also they are committing gross human rights violations with full impunity” He shared the details of the ongoing military operation Mashkay and other parts of Balochistan.....
