Balochistan issue raised with Obama's Special Representative James Dobbins

Balochistan issue raised with Obama's Special Representative James Dobbins | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Dr. Wahid sought U.S. intervention in resolving the decades' long issue of Balochistan during his meeting with Dobbins.

He drew his attention to the ongoing military operation, human rights violations and enforced disappearances in Balochistan,Pakistan's largest province.

The Baloch nationalists claim that their territory was forcefully occupied by Pakistan in 1948 and are demanding sovereignty to preserve their resources, culture and tradition.

In the years-long conflict, thousands of Balochs have lost their lives. Hundreds of them have been allegedly been kidnapped by Pakistan's spy agency, ISI and Military Intelligence.

Balochs have also complained about the lack of economic development and basic facilities like education, healthcare and employment in the region.

Dr. Wahid has in the past met US Vice President Joe Biden and several other top US lawmakers to draw their attention towards the situation in Balochistan.

In his letter to the envoy, he has called for intervention from the United Nations and the International Community in order to safeguard the lives of Baloch people....

Pakistan is violating international conventions of human rights in Balochistan: VBMP

Pakistan is violating international conventions of human rights in Balochistan: VBMP | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

The protest of families of abducted Baloch entered 1062 days as a whole and 82 Day in Karachi on Tuesday.

Delegations of Civil Society Lawyers and people from all spheres of life have continuously been visiting the VBMP’s protest camp to express their solidarity with families of abducted Baloch at Karachi Press Club.

Talking to a delegation the Vice-Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons Mama Qadeer Baloch said a UN convention which is unknown as ‘Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment’. The UN General Assembly adopted this convention on 10 December 1984, and it was entered into force on 26 June 1987. The convention obliges States to make torture a crime and to prosecute and punish those guilty of it. It notes explicitly that neither higher orders nor exceptional circumstances can justify torture.

Qadeer Baloch said this document was totally ineffective in Balochistan despite the fact Pakistan signed this convention on 17 April 2008. He added, “Two years later on 3 June Pakistan has fist violated this document when it killed Boland Khan Baloch under torture and dumped in body on 3, June 2010 in a Dasht area of Mastung, Balochistan. Boland Khan was abducted five days before his murder from Quetta by secret agencies of Pakistan.”

He said, “VBMP believes Pakistan is strongly violating the international instrument and laws in Balochistan. Such a document holds no importance until it forcefully implemented. Pakistan intelligence agencies have been committing atrocities in Balochistan with impunity.”

Another similar international instrument ‘the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (ICCPED) which is intended to prevent forced disappearance defined in international law, crimes against humanity. The text of this document was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 December 2006 and opened for signature on 6 February 2007. It entered into force on 23 December 2010.

Around 32 countries from all over the worlds signed and support this convention but Pakistan has refused to sign this instrument. “Had Pakistan signed this document, today she would have been in violation of this international resolution in Balochistan as well,” said Qadeer Baloch.

Mama Qadeer further said that Pakistan celebrates the ‘the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30, each year, by abducting more Baloch and dumping bullet-ridden dead bodies of abducted Baloch activists.

United Nation and Human Rights Organisations: Stop Pakistani media racism against Baloch nation

Most Pakistanis, even those living in the US, Europe, have no qualms about the contempt they have for Blacks. Inside Pakistan where a tiny minority of Baloch nation is dark skinned, the racism against these people is so marked and pronounced that it will shock most people.

Most Pakistanis and Pakistani TV channels mock Balochi culture through demeaning these dark skinned Baloch. This video shows clips of a recently aired show on a Pakistani TV network (ARY Digital) where the hosts mock Black Baloch by calling them born thieves and people who cause problems wherever they live. This is the insult to both Baloch people and colored people all over the world.

The civilized people of the world should raise strong voice against this Pakistani racism against Baloch people.

Please advocate for a free and independent Balochistan. Please help with humanitarian aid for the victims of (2) devastating earthquakes in the Baloch territories! The Baloch lands have sufficient wealth to raise all their people from poverty and add to the wealth of the community of nations, all they need is their freedom and independence which was wrongfully usurped from them by Pakistan! Please raise your voice and help spread awareness of the plight of the Baloch peoples, help bring freedom and prosperity to a land and people who have and are being devastated.

Deteriorating Human Rights Violations in Balochistan - Opinions - Features - Balochwarna News | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

The Human right violations in Balochistan continue unabated and the situation is deteriorating with each coming day. The rampant Pakistani forces are involved in abducting, and killing of Baloch youth. The discovery of the bodies of abducted Baloch, riddled with bullets on roads side, with organs either missing or chopped off by Pakistani forces and agencies are now order of days.

Poets, intellectuals, journalists, Baloch human rights activists and political activists are being threatened, abducted, tortured and killed by Pakistani forces. Poets like Nasser kamalan Baloch, Mir Jan Miral were brutally murdered by Pakistan security agencies. Not only poets but the Baloch journalists are also not spared, Journalist Illyas Nazar Baloch, Sidiq Baloch a humanitarian activist, political activists like Ghulam Muhammad Baloch, Lala Munir, Sher Mohammad Baloch,Qamber Chakar and many more were killed ruthlessly by ISI and military personals after keeping them for a long time in their torture cell and then their bodies were thrown across roadsides....

Pakistan terror campaign in Balochistan | Peter Tatchell Foundation

“Pakistan is waging a war of terror against the people of Balochistan, according to new evidence documented by the Voice of Baloch Missing Persons and the Asian Human Rights Commission,” said Peter Tatchell, Director of the human rights organisation, the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

“The first four months of this year have been particularly bloody and brutal.

“Terror tactics include ‘kill and dump’ abductions, mutilation, assassination, torture and imprisonment without trial of suspected Baloch nationalist sympathisers.

“Islamabad is colluding with the Taliban and encouraging the imposition of Islamist fundamentalism and sectarianism on the Baloch people. It is looting Balochistan’s vast natural resources, while leaving the people there impoverished.

“The UN must permanently station human rights investigators in Balochistan and supervise a binding referendum on self-determination.

“Pakistan should halt military operations and begin all-party talks to negotiate a peaceful settlement to the 65-year-long conflict, which began when Pakistan invaded, annexed and occupied Balochistan in 1948.
