Thousands of Iranians stage rallies in support of Bahraini protesters after the Friday Prayers.

 ...

Iranian demonstrators took to the streets Friday and shouted "Death to Al Khalifa in Bahrain" and "Death to America," to condemn the violent crackdown by the US-backed Al Khalifa regime's forces on the peaceful protesters, IRNA reported.

The demonstrators also carried placards with slogans denouncing the arrogant powers and their despotic lackeys in the region, and expressed their wrath at Saudi Arabia's deployment of military forces in Bahrain to quell anti-regime demonstrations.

On March 13, Saudi-led forces were dispatched to the Persian Gulf island at Manama's request to quell the countrywide protests.

Six Months On: How Bahrain's Street Was Silenced

Six Months On: How Bahrain's Street Was Silenced | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

But the story is far from over. Bahrain is still tingling with tension, the air poisoned with suspicion, sectarianism more pointed than ever as the country slowly reverts to normal after its messy turn on the Arab Spring carousel. The establishment's efforts at reconciliation have been dismissed by the opposition as mere window dressing for its oppressive policies. The passions unleashed in the short burst of protest against the soft authoritarianism are still coursing through the tiny Gulf island of just 1.2 million.

AFP: US-Bahrain defense pact renewed

AFP: US-Bahrain defense pact renewed | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

As early as 2002, the administration of former US president George W. Bush and the Bahraini regime secretly extended the accord for another five years, to 2016, The Washington Post reported. But Pentagon officials declined to confirm those dates to AFP.
A US official who requested anonymity, however, said that "it would be accurate to say that it goes beyond that date" of October 2011.

Bahraini Khalifas private lands vs. the public Bahrain!

The Selfish, egocentric, uncaring overlords of the Bahraini people, the Khalifas, have garnered extreme wealth for themselves at the expense, and to the detriment, of their own citizens. Bad leadership, poor stewardship, and manifest selfish hedonism! Further evidence of the heartless, evil of the Khalifa regime!

Opposition sees future without U.S. fleet - Washington Times

Opposition sees future without U.S. fleet - Washington Times | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

The leader of this island kingdom’s largest opposition party says that a future, democratic Middle East would eliminate the need for the U.S. Navy in the Persian Gulf.

“I believe that a democratic system inherently guarantees long-term stability and allows achieving cooperation between democracies,” said Ali Salman, secretary-general of the Wefaq National Islamic Society.

“If this region sees the emergence of a democratic order, I think there will be real stability in the medium- and long-term. There would be no need for any [foreign] forces to be present to guarantee the flow of oil.”

AlKhalifa Hypocrite ! Murderer, liar, torturer, .....etc

AlKhalifa Hypocrite ! Murderer, liar, torturer, .....etc | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

At least 32 people have been killed and hundreds arrested since protests began in February, inspired by other Arab uprisings.
"We would like to emphasize that we do not anticipate putting everyone on trial. There are those who were charged with abusing us and senior officials in Bahrain, and we today announce that we forgive them," said the king in a message for the last part of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
King Hamad also noted that Bahrain's Supreme Court will oversee compensation payments for victims of abuses or for families of those killed during unrest, including security forces.
"There are those who were arrested, and investigations proved that they were the victims of individual behavior and were ill-treated in custody," the king said. "This is not tolerated by God and we do not condone it."
"The last few months were painful for all of us, and even though we all live in the same country, some have forgotten about the inevitability of coexistence," the king said.
He noted, however, that protest-related trials will continue.

[Strange how 'victims of individual behavior' are all Shia, and the Regime doesn't respond to the abuses until after being caught in the act!

Anyone who was a believing Muslim would , at minimum, release all political prisoners,  drop all charges, and then start atoning for their sins to the families and individuals harmed.......

Khalifa two-faced 'forgiveness']

Arab Monitor -White House deliberately misled Congress about secret deal with Bahrain | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

“The terms of the extension” beyond the originally envisaged deadline, writes Lippman, “have never been made public. The agreement’s existence is classified. Not even Congressional Research Service analysts, who write detailed reports for Congress and often have access to classified material, were aware. A comprehensive CRS report on the situation last month said flatly that the defence pact would be up for renewal in October. In effect, White House secrecy on this issue put the research service in the position of reporting misleading information to Congress.”

Washington’s uneasy alliance with Bahrain

Washington’s uneasy alliance with Bahrain | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Throughout 2011, the United States has been criticized in the region this year for what is perceived as a tepid and contradictory policy toward the various Arab uprisings. This would have been an inconvenient, and perhaps embarrassing, moment to renew military relations with a regime that drew worldwide criticism in March for the repressive tactics it used to quell a domestic uprising — a test of the Obama administration’s struggle to balance security concerns with human rights and the promotion of democracy.
