....Hadi al-Musawi, a spokesman for the main opposition group Al Wefaq, said Guard troops were seen setting up in Sitra, a center of the revolt. Previously, Guard forces have been used mainly at key sites in the capital Manama, including the landmark square that was the center of the protests in their first weeks.

Meanwhile, heavy clashes erupted Saturday after the funeral of a teenager killed in a traffic incident during a clampdown on marchers the day before. Opposition groups claim the boy was hit by a car while fleeing security forces,  .....

Sitra, Bahrain is under attack!

Sitra, Bahrain is under attack! | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Groups of armed thugs with SF support are attacking homes, breaking and entering, and robbing!   35+ homes have been raided and pillaged!  Picture above is of Yasser Ahmed, a man who committed no crime but was arrested and taken away anyway without any charges!

Burglery, forced breaking and entry, illegal abductions.....this is Bahrain under the AlKhalifa terrorists!  Please help raise awareness of these attrocities and work to free the Human Rights Defenders who are imprisoned for nothing other than trying to stop these egregious violations of human rights and dignity!

UPDATE:  These mercenaries are targeting homes of known opposition figures and martyrs.  Familial home of the Martyr of Eid,  Ali Al Sheikh, was attacked!

UPDATE:  At least 10 other villages are also being attacked and targeted with similar illegal actions.  The scope of this, being over multiple islands and multiple villages, clearly evidences that this is NOT the actions of low-level authorities.  This is clearly a regime behavior and is sanctioned from the very top of the Al_Khalifa regime!    A crime against humanity.....

Hundreds of anti-regime protesters held a protest rally in Northeastern Bahrain, calling for the democratization of the Persian Gulf country.

The pro-democracy demonstration, dubbed People’s Cause, was held in the village of Sitra on Friday, Al-Alam reported.

The protest had been organized by the Bahraini opposition bloc al-Wefaq National Islamic Society.

The participants called on Bahraini authorities to stop suppressing Shiite Muslims and denying their rights as equal citizens of the nation. They also slammed the ruling Al Khalifa regime for its crackdown on pro-democracy protests, demanding freedom of the country’s political prisoners.

This article is about people protesting for democracy in Bahrain.

In Bahrain, a large percentage of the population are Shiite Muslims, which are actually a minority when compared to Sunnis. Shiite claim to be treated as second-class citizens, and want to have more say in the government of their country. The US has often supported any country or region that was pro-democracy, so has the US had a hand in this? It is hard to say, with most US government brains in the ISIS think tank.

Cody Price's curator insight, May 26, 2015 11:02 PM

In the small Persian Gulf country of Bahrain the people regimes is calling for democratization of the government. The Shiite Muslims feel oppressed and want to be free and have equal rights. These protests are for the freedom of the people and a more fair and non corrupt government.

This article relates to the idea if democratization in unit 4. Democratization is the move to a more democratic government. The people want to vote and have a say in how they are governed.

Bahrain Municipal Council Member is shot by AlKhalifa terrorists!

Bahrain Municipal Council Member is shot by AlKhalifa terrorists! | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Forces of the Bahraini regime targeted a member of the Municipal Council, Sadiq Rabea, shooting at him with birdshot gun causing serious injuries. The incident took place whilst regime forces were brutally suppressing a peaceful pro-democracy protest in Sitra Island.

Shotgun pellets riddled Rabea's back, neck and ear causing heavy bleeding. He is currently without medical treatment as hospitals refused to treat the injured Rabea despite his injuries that were deliberately caused by the regime forces.

Such attacks are a regular occurrence in Bahrain where regime forces systematically repress peaceful citizens in order to prevent them from exercising their right to protest and freely express their opinions.

Sitra: the heart of the Bahraini revolution | Witness Bahrain

Sitra: the heart of the Bahraini revolution | Witness Bahrain | Human Rights and the Will to be free | Scoop.it

Roughly 250 people gathered in the street in Sitra, Bahrain. Approximately half were men and boys, some dressed in white flowing thob, others in Western-style jeans and t-shirts. Women and girls made up the other half, predominantly (though not exclusively) clad in traditional black abaya and hijab. Several of the men, women, and children had one eye covered with gauze, fastened with surgical tape. This protest was on behalf of those who lost an eye — or both eyes — to the Bahraini riot police shooting rubber bullets, bird shot, and tear gas canisters directly at the faces and upper bodies of protestors. Approximately one hundred protestors lost an eye since the revolution erupted sixteen months ago, the activists who took me to the demonstration told me, a number I need to confirm. .....
