A colleague of mine, Marc Emmelman, came up with this fabulous idea to spread the ability for companies to supercharge their marketing. How? By teaching them to curate awesome content that grows their business.

I said, "I'm in!" So we are taking 10 people through a hands-on workshop using Scoop.it as our curation platform. All the details are in this blog post.

Got a cause to promote? Got a message to get out? Want to establish your expert status? That's what content curation is all about.

I love sharing with people how content curation has brought me amazing business results. It's part of my company story :)

And you can do it too. Don't miss it and hope to see you there!

The Future of Video Is About Learning How To Tell Great Emotional Stories

Robin Good's curator insight, April 15, 3:52 AM

In this SxSW set of video interviews captured by Wipster (a collaborative video review and approval service) with some of the "experts" in the online video publishing field, you can hear most of what you already know and expect from the future of video: 4K, real-time editing, effects, 3D, small screens and more.

What instead emerges as the real challenge though, is to realize that no matter what kind of tools and services you use, the difficult part is to have a good story and to learn how to tell it on video.

Tools are great and easy indeed, but they don't make anyone a capable storyteller instantly. This is what we really need to work on.

No need to view all 12+ minutes of the video. Just check the first and the last interview in this clip and you will get the real meat.

This is a great SlideShare piece by Lusko advocating that any business -- whether you are a startup or an established brand -- can use storytelling to grow.

I like the points made here about the kinds of stories you can tell, along with the list of customer personas that make your story crafting easier.

I just wish they had described the archetypes more! But never fear -- just Google the archetype and you'll have  wealth of information. Or use Carol Pearson's book The Hero And The Outlaw for a complete explanation (I have no financial ties to Carol).

So grab this piece and hone your stories!

A Curated Guide About The Best Places Where To Learn How To Code: Bento

A Curated Guide About The Best Places Where To Learn How To Code: Bento | Backpack Filmmaker | Scoop.it

Everything you need to know about web development. Neatly packaged. Learn HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, Rails, Node, and more in each box with a set of links.

Robin Good's curator insight, April 27, 11:28 AM

Bento is a website that, thanks to its author Jon Chan and the many user contributions, has gathered, organized and curated the very best resources available online where you can learn how to code.

From html to javascript, ruby, php, Java, perl, Bento offers learning guidance for over 80 different technologies and coding languages.

Here is how Jon Chan, a 23 years old who launched this project in September of 2013, describes Bento:

"Bento is what I would have liked to have when I was learning to code.

I started learning to code when I was very young - about ten years old. Then, the only things I had available were what I could find online and through a few dense books.

Now, people have the exact opposite problem: how do you break through the noise and find what's actually valuable to learn?

This site is here to help you figure that out."

Bento is a perfect example of effective content curation as it does not simply collect and list all of the resources available to learn each language but it only suggests the very best ones, organizing them in easy, medium and hard and providing also "best of" / direct solutions that save readers lots of valuable time.

Free to use.

Useful, simple and immediate to use. Well organized. 9/10
