Neil Ferree's insight:

To Rate and Score a Website's Popularity a there are 2 free services you can use to estimate a site Top of Funnels Metrics that include:

  • Total Visits
  • Time on Site
  • Page Views
  • Bounce Rate

The most popular is probably Alexa, which is owned by Amazon. Another site measurement service is called SimilarWeb.

The  free versions of both of these web metric measurement services also provide their top referring source, top 5 keyword phrase and destination sites. Its more difficult to get a site's stats from the SimilarWeb servers, unless the site has a significant traffic count and other TOF metrics, much like the Compete service.

Glad I helped you get back to Commun.it. Do you still use it regularly?

I get that Scoop.it allows you to make it easy to share an article to multiple networks with one click, but I don't quite understand the advantages of the Pro version. You say it enables the "rich text editor". I assume that means you can link to other articles and format text with bold and italics. I can see that being helpful, but is it worth paying the money for? What do you mean by pointing to a page "3 layers deep"?

Google Pulls Profile Photos and Circle Counts from Search Results

Google Pulls Profile Photos and Circle Counts from Search Results | Backlinks for your Blog | Scoop.it

Google announced today they will remove profile photos and the author's Google+ circle counts from search results.

According to John Mueller We've been doing lots of work to clean up the visual design of our search results, in particular creating a better mobile experience and a more consistent design across devices. As a part of this, we’re simplifying the way authorship is shown in mobile and desktop search results, removing the profile photo and circle count. (Our experiments indicate that CTR behavior on this less-cluttered design is similar to the previous one.).

This makes it more challenging to manage your social media
