So - clearly it's time to get down with the newborn - music lessons kick "Baby Einstein's Ass!"

After completing the first study of its kind, researchers have discovered that very early musical training benefits children even before they can walk or talk.

Joyful Music May Promote Heart Health, According to University of Maryland School of Medicine Study

Love this - seems that joyful music will make your blood vessels dilate by 26% - improving blood flow and ultimately heart health - however - apparently the reverse works too - if you listen to sad music - your vessels constrict!!!

So - if you've ever wanted to kill off your spouse or significant other - just make a really sad mixtape for them and watch them slowly die of cardiovascular disease.

Science is awesome!

Listening to your favorite music may be good for your cardiovascular system.

Study: Music Players May Encourage Distracted Driving

best bet here is to set the playlist you want before you start driving - kinda unsurprising really to find that speeding along at 80 miles an hour while you search for that obscure Dr. John track might end up with you hitting a tree - remember kids - eyes on the road only!

Scrolling through the song list on your digital music player while driving may lead to more than the crashing of cymbals.

How Violin Music Affects Your Mood

Clearly this article came from the Violin's perspective - but I admit - I find the soothing strokes of the violin (not the fiddle - something completely different) very - well - conducive to thinking...

Historically, listening to music has been an activity known to human beings even in the prehistoric era. This has been shown in the archeological finds of musical instruments that have been discovered several decades ago.

Official study reveals that the average person will spend 13 years of their lives listening to music

Loved this study from Audio-Technica - turns out people are now listening to music for around 4 hours a day - which they reckon is dramatically more than ten years ago and driven by the explosion in mp3 players, tablets, and of course headphones etc.  Bring it on I say - the more music the merrier

Favorite Music Boosts Sports Performance Say Psychologists

Nice little study that backs up the whole - "It isn't just one type of music that works for everybody" it's got to be music you like (or dislike) that will have an effect on your performance.  ONe person's meat is another person's poison, or Motley Crue, or....heh!
