Baby boomers hold tight to their homes | Baby Boomers Online | Scoop.it
More baby boomers are staying in their homes instead of moving to condos or apartments — and that's making SoCal's housing shortage worse.
Angela Heath's insight:
Interesting article.  Funny it says nothing about the Boomers who are losing their homes due to unemployment.  I would like to read an article documenting this grim reality. But many California is different.

Millennial Meltdown: Quarter-Life Crises Are the New Mid-Life Crises

Millennial Meltdown: Quarter-Life Crises Are the New Mid-Life Crises | Baby Boomers Online | Scoop.it
The increasing cost of education and home ownership has put immense pressure on debt-saddled Millennials. Enter: the quarter life crisis.
Angela Heath's insight:

Fascinating! Quarter-life crises seems to be more about lack of economic stability.  Mid-life crises seems to be more about re-invention.  Both can benefit from exploring how to best use their talents, interests and skills differently.  Both could benefit from side hustles as a means of exploring their "what's next." http://bit.ly/1XsPDAu; http://bit.ly/1YVXPL3

Does Credit Score Matter? Not to a Lot of Baby Boomers - DSNews | Baby Boomers Online | Scoop.it
A recent survey conducted of 1,037 non-retired consumers ages 51 to 70, i.e. the "baby boomer" generation, found that almost half of them believe that their credit score does not matter as much after age 70, according to TransUnion.
Angela Heath's insight:
Sorry but I strongly disagree.  It's OK to keep a good credit score but baby boomers should NOT be doing it to support children or finance long term care.  No instead we should be working to become debt free.  Then we can leverage the credit score for necessities.

Apology from a baby boomer to generations X and Y - Eureka Street

Apology from a baby boomer to generations X and Y - Eureka Street | Baby Boomers Online | Scoop.it
At present, there is an argument between the two sides of politics about negative gearing. According to one side, changing the rules would reduce the cost of housing - and this is their strongest argument against such a change. A member of Gen X or Gen Y - someone in their 20s or 30s, not long out of education and in a first or second job, saving in the hope of one day being able to afford a home of their own - might not read it the same way. No wonder they are looking for a Messiah. By Frank O'Shea
